Job Summary:

This position also serves as the primary focal point of the Health System's grants and contracts accounting. The grant accounting duties may include but not limited to reviewing grant proposals, invoicing and reviewing grant expenditures, reconciling and researching, and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and other agencies for billing and timely reporting.

Exposure Control Classification: Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is not reasonably anticipated. Normal work routine does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.

Responsibility: The Fixed Assets and Grants General Accountant serves as the primary accountant for fixed asset recording, tracking, and reconciliation. The fixed asset accounting duties include but are not limited to recording of newly acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets.

Essential Job Functions:

Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system. Help prepare monthly fixed asset reconciliation by reviewing monthly invoices of fixed asset purchases recorded to the general ledger and prepare journal entries for approval.

Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets and assist the auditors in their inquiries. Provide support information during any audits by a government that involve fixed assets.

Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.

Prepare schedules, reports and reconciliations on project funding and expense, as requested by Chief Financial Officer. Prepare and publish accurate & timely monthly financial grant summary reports (Grant Status Report) to staff, management, oversight auditors (FTA, external auditors) and other financial stakeholders.

Gather data to support grant submissions and maintain Federal and State databases such as grants.gov and NYS Statewide Financial System.

Other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements:

Two years experience in accounting and/or financial reporting- Minimum.

Fixed Asset Experience/Healthcare Experience- Preferred.

Bachelors Degree in the field of business or related field- Minimum.

Must have computer experience, including spreadsheet applications- Minimum.

Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point- Preferred.

Population Specific Requirements: Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide service based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety criteria for adults, pediatrics, adolescent, geriatric, age groups in his or her area of service.
