Job description
SUMMARY
The Electrical Systems Development Engineer is responsible for coordinating the engineering domains (Requirements Management, Hardware, Software, Mechanics, Functional Safety, Validation and Industrialization) to accomplish prototypes and the project milestones and ensure MAHLE PDP deliverables. Responsible for Design to Cost, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Quality, the Electrical Systems Development Engineer will support circuit analysis to ensure hardware design meats customer requirements (precision, reliability, thermal considerations etc) while also being the main technical contact with customer development engineering and the production plant. This role in the Product System Development Department can also have responsibility as the Technical Leader in a Project Acquisition Phase and Supplier Minitoring Engineer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical and strategic coordination with the Product System Development Team Leader.
Complete technical management of new product development.
Lessons learned application from previous projects in the company.
Management of technical resources at project level.
Main technical interface with the project customer and production plant.
Customer requirements analysis and negotiation together with the System Requirements Engineer.
Coordination of development tasks with other technical domains of the company: System Requirements Engineering, HW, SW, Mechanics, Quality, Functional Safety, Validation and Industrialization.
Technical development of the project according to budget and planning.
Close coordination with the Project Manager. Risk and cost analysis together with the Project Manager and the Product Manager.
Responsible of Design to Cost, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Quality.
Responsible to plan and monitor (tracking) the different development cycles of the project following MAHLE PDP.
Responsible to plan and aligned the prototypes maturity level following project milestones and MAHLE PDP.
Responsible to approve the eBOM (Engineering Bill of Materials) for each development cycle.
Release Notes owner.
Organization of technical reviews of the project involving other domains and especially the quality department.
Design FMEA reviewer together with the quality department.
Definition of critical or safety characteristics of the product.
Management and resolution of problems at technical level.
Willingness to travel and technical support on site.
Keeping the Project Manager and Product System Development Team Leader informed about the progress of the project.
The Product System Development Engineer is not the direct responsible for the system or functional block diagrams, electronic schematics, 2D drawings, 3D models, design justifications, simulations, tolerance analysis and validation plans. However, he/she is consulted by the different technical domains to review these documents.
This role in the Product System Development Department can also have two more specialties:
Technical Leader in a Project Acquisition phase:
-Technical support to Product System Development Team Leader for projects acquisitions
-Acting as Product System Development Engineer for acquisition phase
-Close collaboration with Product and Project Management during acquisition phase for design concept
Supplier Monitoring Engineer:
-Support BOM monitoring and release with the Product System Development Engineers
-Support DRA process
-Transversalization/reuse components inside of the same product line
-Define common strategy for second sources validation
-Technical support to project buyers, SQEs and logistics
-Technical support to components discontinuations
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar Engineering field of study is required
Minimum 2 years of experience in power electronics hardware design and development is required; 5 or more is a plus
Demonstrated experience in PCB, EMC Filter design is required
Previous experience in direct contact with customer and suppliers is required
Technical background in electronics development is required; experience in automotive electronics is preferred
Altium Designer experience is required
Technical background in electronics design fields: it can be Hardware, e-Layout, Software, Mechanical, Validation (functional, thermal, electrical, EMC or environmental), Functional Safety, Prototyping or Industrialization is required
Technical background using laboratory instrumentation and test setups: CANoe, INCA, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, power supplies, electronics loads, spectrum analyser is required
Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes is highly desired
Matlab and LT Spice experience is desired
Knowledge of Automotive SPICE processes and Functional Safety (ISO26262) is desired
Knowledge in Cybersecurity is a plus
