Job description

Duties You will conduct studies and prepare recommendations for changes to methods, techniques and facilities to improve department effectiveness. You will review specifications, drawings and other engineering and quality assurance procedures. You will report to the Director, as well as hop superintendents, ship superintendents, engineering branches and ship force branches within the department. You will oversee work projects and devise solutions concerning the division operations. You will utilize knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques to operate crane systems and to develop new work methods approaches and procedures. You will interpret plans, standards and specifications as applicable to mechanical principles to analytically troubleshoot procedures and methods. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding. Qualifications GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to theGS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience planning, defining, developing, and documenting quality requirements for products, services, processes, and systems that are suitable to the activity, proportional to the risk, and consistent with established Agency guidance, practices, and standards; Experience working with systems, machines, equipment, and instruments for the generation, transmission, measurement, or utilization of mechanical power such as internal combustion power plants, piping, machine tools, and controls ; Experience utilizing job-relevant information systems and/or software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, automated research tools, database applications, and the Internet; Experience identifying problems and choosing the proper courses of action that balance the interests of the mission and stakeholders; Experience reviewing drawings, material specifications, test procedures, and other documents to ensure technical adequacy and compliance with specifications and quality requirements; Experience conveying written information in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working with systems, machines, equipment, and instruments for the generation, transmission, measurement, or utilization of mechanical power such as internal combustion power plants, piping, machine tools, and controls; Experience utilizing job-relevant information systems and/or software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, automated research tools, database applications, and the Internet; Experience identifying problems and choosing the proper courses of action that balance the interests of the mission and stakeholders; Experience reviewing drawings, material specifications, test procedures, and other documents to ensure technical adequacy and compliance with specifications and quality requirements; Experience conveying written information in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.
