Company is looking for a paralegal/legal assistant to join New York litigation teams efforts to combat anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism on campus. Midtown NYC.
This company is an independent, unaffiliated, nonprofit corporation established to advance the civil and human rights of the Jewish people and promote justice for all. They engage in research, education and legal advocacy to combat the resurgence of anti-Semitism on college and university campuses, in the workplace, and elsewhere. It empowers students by training them to understand their legal rights and educates administrators and employers on best practices to combat racism and anti-Semitism.
The legal assistant candidate will work alongside a team of experienced litigation attorneys and professionals. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 five years experience in preparation, formatting, and filing various case-related documents and pleadings in federal courts; case management experience required together with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications; working knowledge of Egnyte also preferred.
The successful candidate will have at least 3 to 10 years of relevant legal or law office experience
Bachelor's degree or certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal program desired
Ability to complete assigned tasks with attention to detail; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to assist attorneys in document review and all aspects of case preparation
Proficient with cite checking, blue booking, and legal editing
Proficient with electronic court filing systems in the federal courts
Experience conducting research, organizing information, and editing documents
Demonstrate excellent communication, grammar, and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
Previous trial experience is preferred
Responsibilities will include document organization, review all relevant pleadings and documents and entering/updating events in relevant database; file maintenance; preparation for depositions and trials; and typing, formatting, and proofreading a variety of legal correspondence, briefs, motions, and pleadings
Conduct investigative research to gather relevant information for case preparation
Summarize transcripts from depositions, hearings, and other proceedings
Drafting pleadings, motions and appellate documents and filing them with the court
Coordinate and summarize depositions
Conduct legal research and factual investigation
Prepare discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses / prepare legal documents and draft communication for supervising lawyer
Perform legal research and collect and summarize relevant case information
Cite-check, proofread, and Bluebook legal documents
Coordinate legal projects and provide general substantive case support as needed
Able to successfully handle problems and challenges while exercising tact and courtesy
Experience performing internet research
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
Attention to detail and adherence to directions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Travel: Travel may be required.
