JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Culture and Entertainment serves as the direct connection between the hotel and the local community. Their primary responsibility is to assure that each EDITION hotel has a deep relationship with the locale and the people who live in that city. They provide strategic direction and execution around cultural positioning for the hotel overseeing programming, partner relationships and initiatives/events to ensure the hotel remains relevant and connected to their target audience driving brand awareness and financial performance. This role leads property level activities aimed at developing unique programming opportunities and creating strategic local partnerships.

Using social platforms, traditional and non-traditional marketing, PR and their deep personal relationships, the role is responsible bringing the EDITION luxury & lifestyle atmosphere and experience to life in the hotel giving locals and tourists ongoing reasons to frequent the hotel. The individual is also responsible for orchestrating PR worthy culturally relevant events that create awareness, understanding and interest through distinctive use of social networking, media and coverage in targeted publications. They create and subsequently implement annual strategic plans focused on building long-term, value-based customer relationships to bring the right business to the bars, nightclub venues, restaurants, and event spaces to keep the hotel top of mind for both the hotel guest and the local community.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED; 6 years' experience in the related professional area.

OR

2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 4 years' experience in the food and beverage, culinary, event management, or related professional area.

Preferred:

4-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major.

6 years' experience in bar operations, in a boutique or high-end bar or night club environment.

Familiarity with the entertainment industry and demonstrated ability to make connections with high-profile clientele.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Driving Brand Awareness for the Hotel and the Brand:

Develops and executes a comprehensive hotel program, leveraging knowledge of industry and entertainment concepts to create a memorable and unique customer experience.

Plans and execute events and activations against brand pillars throughout the calendar year, including Design Artistry, Culture & Entertainment, Sustainable Wellbeing, Food & Beverage .

Assists in development of pre-opening planning, such as business positioning of the hotel, bar, night club and other outlets.

Aligns strategy with Sales, Marketing, and Public Relations (PR) strategies to maximize revenue and market penetration that are consistent with the brand business strategy.

Supports Sales and Marketing strategies by focusing on high profile leisure sales, high value events, and targets "high-profile" guests and companies.

Identifies high-profile guests and partners; determines communications plan and manages outreach & retention.

Assesses market position and recommends product and service needs and changes necessary to meet sales and marketing objectives consistent with brand goals.

Enabling Teamwork and Championing Operational Excellence:

Collaborates with Property Sales and Marketing, Operations, F&B, Finance, Revenue teams, agencies, and all other key partners.

Partners with the corporate EDITION brand team and brand partners to determine and develop partnership & sponsorship strategy and tactics for key activations.

Coordinates and participates in sales presentations, client meetings, and site inspections prior to key events, as required.

Develops strong partnerships with local public relations and media firms to further increase brand/product awareness.

Shares best practices and key learnings with other Directors of Culture & Entertainment to enhance EDITION's brand experience.

Providing Exceptional Guest Service:

Executes exemplary guest service to drive guest satisfaction and loyalty before, during and after programs/events.

Serves the guest/client by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations, while building a relationship and loyalty to EDITION.

Gains understanding of the hotel's primary target customer and service expectations; serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solutions both prior to, and during the program/event.

Implements the brand's service strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all aspects of the guest experience.

Focuses on building long-term, value-based client relationships that enable achievement of sales objectives.
