Job description

The Professional Lending Team provides leverage to employees of Private Equity firms and firms with a partnership structure for their equity purchase or fund investment needs. We create a customized loan program with each firm and then work with individual borrowers to extend credit. Our business model is based on capturing as much of the firm and client banking relationship beyond just our product, so providing an exemplary client experience is essential to our success. The PLG Sales Manager is responsible for representing the Professional Lending Group to firms and borrowers, and working in tandem with other Flagstar Bank sales teams. This person will introduce the PLG program to firms and set expectations for the process, timing, and rollout of each program. This person will work directly with firm contacts, credit, and the documentation team to negotiate and book loan programs, and then coordinate between the firm and Sales Support team for a seamless borrower rollout. As a PLG manager, this person will have approval authority over loans and will be responsible for reviewing credit memos and credit decisioning. This person will champion the client experience and ensure communication to clients, firms, and our internal teams is thorough and considerate. This person will maintain his or her own book of clients beyond the initial loan program and work to deepen bank relationships on the firm and borrower level, as well as updating existing and creating new loan programs on an ongoing basis. The ideal candidate is a people person who will proactively work to ensure an out of this world client experience. We're looking to set a new standard for customer service in the banking industry, and this person will be the face of that. Pay Range: $132,311.00 - $148,600.00 - $164,890.00

  • Communicating with firm to introduce and negotiate the loan program.
  • Communicating with Credit, Legal and documentation departments, as well as sales support and loan operations teams.
  • Communicate deadlines and provide updates to relevant internal teams and to firm.
  • Reviewing credit memos and approving loans as a credit officer.
  • Reaching out to clients to check in and looking for opportunities to deepen relationship or updating loan programs as applicable.
  • Working with compliance as needed.

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Communicate deadlines with internal teams.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent).
  • Minimum experience required: 3+ Years in a financial sales role.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple deadlines, and communicating across teams.
  • Must be comfortable talking to clients and have impeccable email etiquette.
  • No specific certifications or technical expertise required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education level preferred: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in business or finance.
  • Preferred 5+ years in financial sales working with credit, lending, or private credit.
  • Ideal candidate will have an understanding of private equity fund finance basics, including capital calls, distributions, fair market value, and applicable taxes; as well as basic loan mechanics including interest rates, credit types, loan to value ratio, debt to income ratio, advance rate, and amortization.

Job Competencies:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment balancing individual responsibilities with bigger picture goals.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, V-lookup, functions, and formulas.
  • Comfortable reviewing and explaining financial transactions.
  • Must be able to review and analyze data reports and manuals; must be computer proficient.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone, email, and in person.
  • Advanced familiarity with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.
  • No travel requirements.
  • Physical demands (ADA): The job requires a moderate degree of physical exertion and stamina such as standing, sitting, walking, driving or infrequent lifting.
