STAND 8 provides end to end IT solutions to enterprise partners across the United States and with offices in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, and more including internationally in Mexico and India.

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer with a strong background in Java (versions 8 - 11), Spring Boot/Spring Data, and SQL Server. Experience with AWS cloud services (specifically SQS and AWS Lambda) is a plus. This role supports our Agile/Scrum development team, focusing on building applications in a fully automated DevOps, Cloud, and Microservices environment. The ideal candidate will be adept at identifying requirements, designing scalable solutions using Cloud Native technologies, and implementing best practices in software development.

You will work with business partners to understand requirements and architecture, leveraging AWS services, Machine Learning techniques, GIT, Jenkins, Docker containerization, and Terraform. The role involves coordinating requirements gathering, researching scalable analytic techniques, collaborating with team members, developing software, and contributing to technology roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the strategy, implementation, and workflow of Media/Digital Asset Management systems (experience with Vidispine, Cantemo, and production asset management systems is a plus).
• Create technical specifications based on functional requirements.
• Develop components for new and existing applications as part of an Agile sprint team.
• Perform basic support and debugging in test and production environments.
• Maintain and repair existing applications.
• Identify and escalate problems to ensure timely resolution.
• Develop scalable applications for cloud-based environments such as GCP or AWS.
• Build high-traffic APIs and websites with a focus on performance and security.
• Work in a DevOps environment with a fully automated CI/CD pipeline.
• Ensure applications are highly secure and performant.
• Develop and deploy cloud-native production-grade applications on AWS using services like Containers, EC2, EBS, and S3.
• Contribute to the development of video players, transcoding, and streaming solutions (a plus).

Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving, organizational, decision-making, written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience designing and developing large, scalable, and complex systems.
• Proficiency in Cloud technologies such as AWS, Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with build and CI/CD technologies like Maven and Jenkins.
• Expertise in Java technology stack and object-oriented methodologies, including Java 8/Java EE, Spring framework, Hibernate/JPA, Git, and Linux.
• Experience building and maintaining cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Knowledge of RESTful Webservice design, NoSQL and SQL database design, and transaction management principles.
• Experience with web application development, including technologies such as OWF, Servlets, Grails, Play, MVC, JSON, XHTML, HTML5, CSS, SASS/LESS, Angular, Vue, or ReactJS (ReactJS preferred).
• Experience with algorithm implementation and distributed message or stream processing frameworks.
• Experience working in digital media environments is a plus.
• Exposure to Test Driven Development (TDD) and agile practices.
• Experience with junior developers and peer programming techniques such as XP and peer programming.
• Adherence to department standards, policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
• Flexibility to work hours based on project needs.

Additional Details

The base range for this contract position is $20 - $29/per hour, depending on experience.

Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
