Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Working knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical components
A passion, curiosity and comfort of components and technology in our industry
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Agile knowledge a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to Haves:
Skills in general engineering and experience with Components Engineering.
Knowledge of the principles of electronics.
Knowledge of connectors and cables is a plus.
Knowledge of the principles of materials, materials science, physics.
Understanding of the physical makeup and behavior of metals and materials.
Ability to work from a designer's specifications.
Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment; communicate and collaborate within the team environment and be open minded to discussions within the teams.
Knowledge/familiarity with military and industrial specifications and standards as well as test methods as they relate to parts and materials.
Familiarity with mechanical part and materials requirements.
Ability to interface with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure program requirements are met.
Understanding of diagrams/drawings - electrical, mechanical, circuitry - and how to interpret them.
Understanding of product lifecycle management; to know when a component is going to be obsolete or to analyze the form-fit-functionality changes in the component.
Researching alternate components for discontinued components.
Willingness to be adaptable, flexible, and work on a broad number of items as needed.
Ability to navigate and use different software tools, such as: Agile, EDP, Access, IHS.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of products used to ensure first responders and military personnel are able to communicate successfully when they are executing their missions.
This position is for an Experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Components Engineering Team. The individual will work within a team environment to help analyze, select, and qualify components and technology used in the company's offerings. Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies that reduce cost, improve quality, reliability, and/or exportability and implement changes as approved. Acts as technical interface between component/production suppliers or governmental representatives and development engineers to determine alternate, approved, sources. Develops guidelines/procedures on vendor selection and classification of technology. Evaluates supplier change notification and qualifies changes, as needed. May maintain component data management system including qualification or commodity classification records/results/documentation.
Component engineering involves working with designers, manufacturers, purchasing, quality, environmental-health-safety, program management and vendors to ensure the compatibility of all components. Component engineers must consider factors of cost, schedule, and the requirements of the customer.
