Job description

This role is responsible for overseeing and improving quality processes at the Long Island manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments, including operations, supply chain, and customers, to implement quality initiatives and ensure product excellence. They will utilize the Operating System to drive continuous process improvements and advocate for customer satisfaction.

Our Client is a leading manufacturer of engineered critical control components and subsystems for the aerospace and medical equipment industries. Our state-of-the-art facility features a class 10K clean room for specialized products, including flight-critical pressure regulators, pneumatic weapons release systems, high-pressure assemblies, and medical components.

Description

In this role, the Quality Manager will have exposure to:

  • Quality Management: Oversee quality systems, processes, and documentation to ensure product excellence.
  • Corrective Actions: Manage corrective action reports (CARs) and shop incident reports (SIRs) to address quality issues.
  • Certification and Compliance: Ensure compliance with certifications and standards, support certification preparation, and implement vendor quality reviews.
  • Process Improvement: Streamline product and process flow, support NDT inspections and training, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Customer Relations: Build positive relationships with customers, address quality concerns, and support on-time delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, purchasing, and operations to implement quality initiatives and improve processes.
  • Supplier Management: Collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues and ensure compliance.
  • Defense Shipments: Support defense shipments while improving productivity.
  • Third-Party Inspections: Manage relationships with third-party inspectors and facilitate releases.
  • Continuous Improvement: Simplify processes, reorganize resources, and implement effective measurement techniques to drive quality improvement.

Profile

The Successful Quality Manager will have:

  • Quality Standards: Strong understanding of ISO 9000, AS9100, and related quality standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of defense contracts, specifications, FAR clauses, and NDT processes.
  • Leadership and Communication: Proven leadership skills, strategic thinking, strong communication abilities, and the ability to build relationships.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of technical aspects of products and manufacturing processes.
  • Training: Experience with Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and preferably, Toyota Production System/Lean Manufacturing.
  • US Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen to meet DOD requirements.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 10%.
