The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for delivering quality health care to people living in the administered residences (135 residents) and to provide clinical supervision and input to all people with IDD or learning disabilities who are part of the service system to include people in day services, family support and MSC services. The
Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible to provide and coordinate health care that is clinically appropriate to every individual delivered in a culturally sensitive manner.
The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible to work with the line direct support staff and registered nurses to ensure that care is delivered consistently and in a well-coordinated manner.
The Assistant Director of Nursing is to ensure that all surveys as well as external and internal audits have positive outcomes in relationship to the quality of the health care being delivered.
The Assistant Director of Nursing is to recommend practices, policy, and procedures to ensure the consistent delivery of health care as prescribed by OPWDD and DOH as well as aligned with the most updated evidence based practices.
The Assistant Director of Nursing will develop nursing, medication administration, triaging, first aid, infection control policies and procedures for the review and approval of the Director of Health Services.
The Assistant Director of Nursing will participate in clinical meetings as dictated by the clinical needs of the individuals or those deemed high risk by the administration.
The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible to regularly meet with physicians and specialists to highlight the needs of the people supported and to ensure that the physicians are provided with the necessary and accurate data to delivered good care.
Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for maintaining the medical records in an updated and efficient fashion and to prepare such records for the conversion to Electronic Health Records (EHR).
The Assistant Director of Nursing is to supervise the development of the individualized nursing care plans for each resident (on his or her caseload).
The Assistant Director of Nursing is to work with the Director of Communication and the Director of Nutrition services to ensure that food consistency is designed to be safe and palatable.
The Assistant Director of Nursing will conduct chart review of the entire system at least quarterly and ensure follow up and care coordination is being executed within good practices of the nursing profession.
The Assistant Director of Nursing is required to present at all surrogate court committee meetings and to represent the agency's clinical position
The Assistant Director of Nursing will work closely with the Director of Family Innovative Support in providing required documentation for initial and ongoing eligibility.
The Assistant Director of Nursing will regularly travel to different locations to monitor, manage, and provide support as necessary.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor degree in Nursing
8+ years of professional experience in delivering of health care to people with IDD
2-3+ years of which must have been in a supervisory or clinical capacity.
Or Master's degree in Nursing with 2+ years of experience delivering quality care to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Expert knowledge of clinical nursing.
Licensed as a registered nurse required
75% Travel expected
