We are seeking a Manager, Environmental Health and Safety to join our team. As a manager, you would apply a solid understanding of Regenerons EH&S processes, procedures and systems to ensure health and safety compliance standards are met. Applies understanding of how the team relates to other closely related areas to improve efficiency of their own team and produce high quality work on problems with cross functional impact. Applies understanding of the industry and how EH&S contributes to the achievement of objectives. Solves highly complex EH&S problems and works on EH&S issues of diverse scope in which analysis of situation or data requires review of regulations and standard industry practices.

As a Manager within EH&S, a typical day may include the following:

  • Leads and develops a team of employees performing EH&S tasks concerning various health and safety programs, with a particularly strong focus in biosafety, radiation safety, chemical hygiene, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, etc in a life sciences, research and development laboratory setting

  • Exercises professional judgment within generally defined practices of industrial hygiene and safety selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions

  • Responsible for overall management of daily operational activities of professional-level or support employees performing EH&S tasks concerning various health and safety programs

  • Functions as an advisor to the EH&S Department regarding tasks, projects and operations

  • Develops team goals, assigns EH&S tasks to team, and helps prioritize work. Ensures tasks are completed and team and project goals are met

  • Identify, develop, and present various health and safety related training sessions

  • Track, report, and present on key performance indicators

  • Coaches and develops team members on skill proficiency and performance with general direction on tasks and provides regular feedback

  • Works independently and under the direction of the EH&S Director to implement various environmental health and safety programs and initiatives

  • Provides 24/7 emergency response support during medical emergencies, evacuations, hazmat spills, etc.

  • May provide secondary construction project support as a subject matter expert during each phase of the project - design, construction, and post-construction

  • May provide support to a specific aspect of the business such as new target characterizations, vivarium, safety data sheet development, and IACUC

This role may be for you if:
  • Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organizational problems/problems relating to EH&S procedures

  • frequently mentors more junior team members; frequently works cross-functionally as the representative for their area excellent supervision and mentorship skills

  • excellent project management skills

To be considered for this role, you must have a BS + 7 years of expereince or an MS + 4 years of relevant experience. We are seeking excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to learn specialized software applications. Ability to develop and conduct EHS training sessions. EMT certification is a plus. Skillful in PC use as well as in specialized safety and industrial hygiene equipment, specialized applications such as but not limited to integrated workplace management systems, learning management systems, dynamic training software such as Captivate, Articulate, etc. Direct supervisor of exempt professionals or non-exempt employees.

Salary Range (annually)

$110,900.00 - $181,100.00
