Job description

Black River Systems Company, a small, established research-oriented engineering firm headquartered in
Utica, NY, is looking for a Signal Processing Engineer. We are looking for someone who can develop signal
processing algorithms to detect, decode, and process digital communication signals. You will participate
in field tests, signal modeling for operational planning, building, and testing commercial off-the-shelf
(COTS) systems, such as software-defined radios (SDRs), for use in protype signal collection and processing
systems. Position Responsibilities: • Development of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) design or modeling and analysis of Software Defined Radios (SDRs) • Performing research, design, development and production of communications equipment and systems. • Able to maintain, troubleshoot and install the communications equipment using digital signal processing algorithms • Knowledge of satellite or other wireless communications systems • Knowledge of military systems and computer network technologies, designs, and programs • Incorporating traditional Signal Processing as well as Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques • Conducting data processing and analysis • Performing signal detection, characterization, and geolocation operations • Implementing algorithms in hardware systems as research progresses toward operational implementation. • Processing of raw signals I/Q data • Demonstrate project leadership skills and the ability to mentor employees • As required develop customer relationships and other business development responsibilities Position Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in math, electrical engineering or related field and industry experience is desired. • Ability to perform in-depth technical evaluations of emerging communications technologies through analysis and identification of advancement capabilities • Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) design or modeling and analysis of Software Defined Radios (SDRs) • Knowledge of military systems and computer network technologies, designs, and programs • 10+ year's professional experience in developing RF signal processing or digital communications • Familiarity with software defined radio hardware and software interfaces • Develop signal processing algorithms to collect, detect, and process digital communication signals • Experience in receiver design including digital filtering, channel estimation, equalization, demodulation, and decoding. • Ability to simulate and/or analyze sensor system performance. • Proficiency in some or all of the following programming languages: MATLAB, Python. Familiarity in C/C++ is a plus. • Excellent communication skills needed to explain complex signaling systems with the ability to provide technical support for hardware design. • US citizenship - must have or be eligible for a Department of Defense security clearance. ,Black River Systems is a small, growing employee-owned company committed to advancing our
