Job description
Duties You will disassemble equipment to the degree necessary to perform required repairs. You will Make independent decisions consistent with repair process being utilized as to depth of disassembly necessary and ensures that it is kept to a minimum. You will ensure repairs can be accomplished at the least expense and still produce a completed unit that meets the applicable performance and quality specifications. You will disassemble, inspect, repair, rebuild, modify test and adjust wheeled and tracked combat vehicles with and with out armor. You will work on trucks, cranes, rough terrain forklifts, scoop-loader, scraper, prime movers, rock crushers and screening units, tanks, refuelers, tankers, pumpers, distillations, purification, and bath units, etc. You will correct rejects on engines, transmissions, and other component malfunctions on tractors, cranes, tanks, loaders, and trucks. You will make repairs upon the vehicle or removes engines, transmission, transfers and other related parts and components so specialized shops may correct troubles. You and participate in the Product Acceptance Certification Program, while employees may be required to participate. You will inspect and evaluate components and parts using exacting specifications. You will be required to keep up with tasks such as; repair/overhauls a variety of heavy mobile equipment, at least one type of major system i.e., disel, multi-fuel, and gasoline engines. You will select and compile with appropriate repair specifications and procedures. You will connect, mesh, align, and adjust items and systems to assure proper orientation of the complete system or vehicle You will fit and install parts, such as psitons, valves, bearings, gears and cylinders, to appropriate tolerances, make changes or modifications in accordance with specifications and guidelines. You will be required to work shifts. You will be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. You may be required to work overtime and work overtime on an emergency basis. You may be recalled to duty. This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
