WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is available for a Hybrid Telework workweek

POSITION PURPOSE:

Delivers special education and related services to identified exceptional children and students identified with behavioral and emotional disabilities. Supports Social/Behavioral Team with student assignment to specialized programs and data tracking and analyzing. Serves as the liaison between the central office and the schools. Promotes the development and improvement of programs for all exceptional children.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

Considerable knowledge of behavior programming and modification;

Considerable knowledge of mental health;

Considerable knowledge of professional development (PD) including the development and facilitation of PD embedding adult learning strategies and techniques;

Considerable knowledge of Special Education Process and Procedures, including those for suspended students with disabilities;

Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point; Google Apps;

Effective time management skills;

Ability to facilitate and model the delivery of special education and related services to identified exceptional children;

Ability to provide assistance and consultation regarding best practices for behavior programming to administrators, teachers, and parents in the development of appropriate programming and curricula for all exceptional children;

Ability to long range plan for student services;

Ability to serve as a liaison between central office, schools, and community agencies;

Ability to work in a team environment;

Ability to work independently and without close supervision;

Ability to evaluate trainings and professional learning to ensure topics and information are being implemented;

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff and parents/guardians.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field;

Three years of successful teaching experience in Special Education or directly related field;

Demonstrated success in teaching and training adults;

Experience in planning and delivering PD.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator's license with licensure in a Special Education teaching area or credentials as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Leadership experience within a school setting (e.g., Department Chair, Student Improvement Plan committee member, or in a similar role providing leadership).

Experience with grant writing and monitoring.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborates and supports the Senior Administrator, Coordinating Teachers, other Behavior Specialists, Autism and Extended Content Standards team, and other district staff for program development and implementation and outcomes of all services and programs related to students with behavioral and/or emotional disabilities at the Elementary and Secondary levels.

Communicates with schools and families in order to enhance teacher delivery methods of special education and related services to students with behavioral and/or emotional disabilities.

Maintains daily, weekly, monthly and yearly program data regarding the Autism and Behavior Support Program and/or the Elementary Behavior Support Program.

Promotes and assists with the planning of staff development for SES Teachers and Administrators.

Supports the Senior Administrator with student assignment to specialized programs.

Collects and analyzes data related to specialized programs.

Performs other related duties, as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff and staff members of external funding agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment. Must be able to independently and efficiently access multiple work sites within a workday.
