SUMMARY: Queens University of Charlotte seeks an innovative and dynamic professional to lead its international education efforts as the Director of the Pulliam Center for International Education. The Director will provide vision and strategic leadership for all aspects of international education, focusing on the promotion of global learning opportunities, the enhancement of international partnerships, and the development of comprehensive international experiences for students.

The Director will supervise an office with three full-time staff, including two direct reports: Assistant Directors (Assistant Director for International Student Services and Assistant Director for Global Experiences), as well as work-study students and/or graduate assistants, with potential for future team growth. A key responsibility includes overseeing the John Belk International Program (JBIP), which offers all full-time undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in an international learning experience at no cost or minimal cost. The Director will coordinate and enhance the JBIP, ensuring its alignment with the university's academic goals and strategic plan. The Pulliam Center for International Education serves as the hub for international activity on campus, fostering a globally engaged community and supporting the university's longstanding commitment to international education.

This position reports to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

Leadership and Strategic Planning:

Provide overall leadership for international education initiatives, ensuring alignment with the university's global engagement goals and student success strategies.

Serve as the primary advocate for international education, representing the university at local, state, national, and international forums.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and strengthen globally oriented curricula and integrate global learning into the university experience.

Program Development and Oversight:

Provide leadership for the John Belk International Program (JBIP), coordinating efforts to expand access and enhance the quality of international experiences for students, including study abroad, exchange programs, and international internships.

Support the development and maintenance of international partnerships, facilitating new agreements and partnerships to broaden opportunities for students and faculty.

Oversee efforts to secure external funding and partnerships that support the growth and accessibility of international programs.

Guide faculty collaboration on curriculum development, assessment, and preparation for international experience courses and programs.

Collaboration and Outreach

Serve as a liaison with local, state, national, and international organizations to promote the university's global engagement initiatives.

Co-chair the International Programs Committee and participate in relevant university committees and external bodies.

Guide the planning and execution of special events and initiatives that promote international awareness and global engagement at Queens.

Provide leadership for efforts to promote study abroad programs and international opportunities to prospective and current students.

Support marketing and promotional activities for international programs, utilizing digital, social media, and in-person outreach strategies.

Compliance and Risk Management:

Oversee the university's compliance with U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Department of State regulations, serving as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO).

Guide the Assistant Director for International Student Services in managing immigration processes, including visa applications and compliance with SEVIS and J-1 Exchange Visitor Program regulations.

Provide leadership in developing risk management strategies for international programs, including emergency response plans and health and safety protocols.

Supervision and Professional Development:

Supervise and mentor a team of international education professionals, providing opportunities for professional growth and development.

Oversee the administration of staff responsibilities, budgets, and operational workflows to ensure program effectiveness and efficiency.

Non-Essential Duties

Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet department and university needs.
