Lilly is designing and building a new state of the art Parenteral, Device Assembly, and Packaging Facility in Raleigh-Durham North Carolina. This is an exciting opportunity to help build a state-of-the-art facility from the ground up as a member of the site IT organization.

The Data & Digital Strategy Architect is responsible for owning and delivering the analytics strategy and digital capabilities for operational efficiency of the manufacturing, logistics, and Quality Control labs at the Research Triangle Park (RTP) manufacturing site. This role ensures that the site continues to leverage technology to transform the business, as both business and technology trends continue to evolve. The role also involves building a network of colleagues both internally and externally to keep pace with industry and technology best practices and capabilities.

Key Objectives/Responsibilities:

Data Architect

  • Define and execute the data strategy for the site.
  • Understand and leverage global data infrastructures and global data analytics solutions. Identify enhancements to the model required to meet RTP business needs.
  • Oversee defining requirements, designing, and prototyping and deploying advanced analytics solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Identify support and maintenance model of the site data architecture
  • Deploy enterprise and functional area AI tools

Digital Consultant

  • Evolve the digital plant vision at RTP through partnership with global IT partners and with site stakeholders.
  • Be a key player to influence site leadership on digital strategy to ensure technology is seen as an enabler for the site strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee defining requirements, designing, and prototyping and deploying digital solutions.

Business Analyst Focus

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of site business processes. Apply knowledge to digital solutions to support the business processes. Work with business stakeholders to analyze opportunities to maximize business value through digital or data analytics solutions.
  • Work to enhance the digital literacy of the site to ensure ongoing support and innovation around the use of technology to enable business value.
  • Actively network with other MQ IT resources to stay aware of initiatives going on around the company, inform others of our own initiatives, share reusable solutions, and champion best practices.

Technical Integrator Focus

  • Critically evaluate user requests and use technical and process knowledge to determine underlying true business needs.
  • Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs.
  • Provide expertise and leadership in the development and integration of IT solutions that support systems and business processes.
  • Continue to benchmark on innovative solutions and technology trends.
  • Deep Knowledge on Data Architecture and integration patterns.

Project Leadership Focus

  • Develop or update project plans including the determination of project activities and milestones.
  • Provide ongoing communication on projects, issues, and major deliverables to management and staff
  • Simultaneously manage/oversee multiple projects across job function.

Resource Management
  • Work with IT and Automation management to develop a resource plan and structure to support and deliver analytics and digital plant initiatives.
  • Meet defined financial objectives, including managing data/digital budget, contracts, and resources.
  • Develop an organization consistent with Lilly values, with emphasis on technical knowledge, accountability, and leadership skills, which will ensure delivery of the company goals and people's personal growth needs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT or a related discipline.
  • Certifications on Data Architecture, Data Engineering and/or Analytics
  • At least 7 years of work experience in pharma or equivalent environment.
  • At least 3 years of work experience with data analysis, data engineering, data architecture.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience working in a global organization.
  • Familiarity with ISA-95 architecture framework and Operational Technology (OT) systems
  • Previous experience with Agile or LEAN
  • Demonstrated creativity, analytical thinking, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in facilitating cross-functional collaboration, aligning IT initiatives with business needs and fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in design, delivery, and support of data analytics solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams consisting of technical and business reps on problem resolution and digital solution design and implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations required to ensure solutions meet business requirements
  • Ability to network both within site and across the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a willingness to lead others through processes.
