Job description

Overview:
We are looking for a Project Manager to join the Voluntary Compliance Services Team within our Professional Services group. You will work with other Avalara teams to provide our customers with Risk Assessment and Voluntary Disclosure Agreement (VDA) services. You will manage the planning, coordination, execution, control and completion of assigned projects. For the duration of each project, you will manage the relationship with the client, Voluntary Compliance Services team, internal and external Avalara partners, and all partners.

You will work on a hybrid arrangement out of our Durham, NC office (2 -3 days in office) and will report to the Manager of the Voluntary Compliance Services Project Management team.

Additionally, you will:

Help define project scope and goals, involving all relevant team members and ensuring that clients' expectations are following project service scope.

Develop and deliver to customers a detailed project plan to track progress

Monitor client projects and address blockers to keep projects moving forward. Report and escalate issues.

Use analytical expertise to fulfill jurisdictional requirements.

Maintain comprehensive project documentation.

Work strategically and independently with internal and external groups on multiple simultaneous projects.

Assist internal team members with developing and enhancing process procedures.

Job Duties

Responsible for the overall planning, direction, coordination, execution, control and completion of assigned projects.

Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring that clients' expectations are in-line with project service scope.

Develop and deliver to customers a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress

Actively monitor client projects and solve problems to keep projects moving forward. Report and escalate issues as needed.

Leverage strong analytical expertise to fulfill jurisdictional requirements.

Successfully manage the relationship with the client, Voluntary Compliance Services team, internal and external Avalara partners, and all stakeholders.

Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

Work strategically and independently with internal and external groups on multiple simultaneous projects.

Assist internal team members with developing and enhancing process procedures.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
You have 5+ Years of related work experience, such as project management and customer success experience

You have knowledge of accounting and tax processes and procedures.

You are comfortable working with clients at all organizational levels.

You are able to articulate process logic and technical concepts including building and delivery of technical presentations.

You can use different communication tools (phone, email, video conference, and other messaging applications).

You enjoy working within a team to support customer satisfaction and business development.

You enjoy driving solutions and are able to pivot between different tasks.
