Job description

Duties Ensure the physical security of the building and property of and the protection and safety of personnel. Provide protection to VIPs, to include General Officers, foreign dignitaries and high-ranking members of the Department of Defense. Perform dispatcher duties involving passing of information and directions to other Officers on patrol assignments. Exercise responsibility for the security of secure facilities, adjoining and disparate facilities and other areas housing. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. In accordance with AR 190-56, the incumbent must take a pass an initial and subsequent annual physical agility tests (PAT) Incumbent is required to undergo, and pass, an annual physical and mental examination. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain the Secret security clearance. Incumbent is required to maintain proficiency, and qualify, in handgun use (testing conducted semi-annually). Failure to do so may be grounds for removal from the position and/or Federal service. Incumbent must successfully complete all required Security Guard training. Incumbent is required to attend re-certification training at a minimum every 12 months based on availability of schools and/or training. Must be willing to rotate shifts, e.g. Day - Swing - Mids. Employee and prospective employee of this job are expected to maintain a high standard of conduct; and when being considered for employment and periodically thereafter. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid states driver's license. Incumbent must successfully complete an initial and subsequent annual cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certification. Incumbent is required to wear a uniform, and maintain a high standard of appearance, grooming, and hygiene IAW AR 190-56. Incumbent is required to wear personal protective equipment, to include bullet proof vests, security/law enforcement equipment, and chemical/biological protection equipment. This position is adverse weather essential. The incumbent must report for duty during inclement weather. This position is designated Key/mission essential. Occasional Travel /TDY. This is a TERM position a Statement of understanding will have to be signed. Maintain order, protecting life, writing and reviewing incident reports and responding to emergency situations and security breaches. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Security Enforcement Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.
