Job description

We are seeking a Rheumatologist to work at the Rheumatology Clinic at the Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree
  • Board Certification: Board certified/board eligible in Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
  • Shall possess and maintain throughout the life of the contract a valid unrestricted state license to practice medicine in one of the 50 states in the United States or the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: HCWs performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen or: as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship, and Immigration Services, either a noncitizen national of the United States, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or alien authorized to work in the United States.
Job Duties:

The provider shall perform all procedures commonly performed by a Rheumatology Physician. Duties shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide medical examination, care, and treatment to MTF patients.
  • Provide medical care and treatment of communicable diseases and/or injuries.
  • Conserve health of patients by application of diversified knowledge of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic medical and surgical procedures.
  • Seek advice of consultants when appropriate.
  • Instruct and monitor other medical personnel in care and treatment of patients to include nontherapeutic services such as physical examinations.
  • Initiate requests for tests, x-rays, and admissions to the medical treatment facility, as appropriate.
  • Follow-up on abnormal reports. Abnormal x-ray and lab reports received on patients seen by contract provider shall be reviewed by the contract provider at the time these reports are available for review. Each report shall be reviewed within one week of its receipt.
  • Prescribe medications, as appropriate, in accordance with the privileges and MTF rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and document appropriate history physical examinations, and diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with MTF directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the policy. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible and complete.
  • Review medical histories and progress of patients. Examine patients, make diagnosis of disease, disaster, or injury, and treat patient or prescribe a course of treatment. Abide by all facility rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Utilize paraprofessional staff as appropriate.
  • Respond to cardiopulmonary arrest as appropriate. Make preliminary interpretation of radiographs to include MRIs and CT scans.
  • Monitor in-patient progress. Contract provider will, on a daily basis, monitor in-patient's progress by physically examining/ observing the patient and reviewing and annotating the patient's medical record/chart. Monitoring will continue until patient is discharged or until patient's care is transferred to another service. If patient care is transferred to another service, contract provider will continue to serve as a consultant to the gaining provider for as long as the gaining provider deems necessary.
  • Contract provider shall also be expected to maintain the minimum productivity, measured in patients per month and relative value units (RVUs) per month. The MEDCOM targets for productivity for a Rheumatologist are 245 patient encounters a month and 780 RVUs per month. MTF will regularly monitor and advise contract provider of individual provider productivity. Failure to meet the productivity minimum standards will result in Contractor being notified of non-compliance; efforts will be made by both the Contractor and the MFT to identify and rectify any conditions that impede the provider s efficiency. If the contract provider is still unable to meet the productivity minimums, the Contracting Officer may request that the Contractor replace the contract provider.
  • Advise the chief of the clinic where contracted services are being provided of any problems encountered or anticipated in connection with meeting the needs of patients treated. Continuing problems of any nature shall be reported by the contractor in writing to the COR.
  • Refer all requests for patient/hospital information that cannot be handled by the clinic personnel to the Patient Administration Division (PAD). After normal duty hours, requests should be referred to the Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) or appropriate authorized personnel. Neither the contractor nor the contract provider shall release medical information without prior coordination with the PAD/AOD.
  • Adhere to the Center for Disease Control guidelines concerning universal precautions and the MTF Infection Control Program at all times while providing services under this contract.
  • Perform all duties in such a manner that they meet all Joint Commission standards.
Working Hours:
  • This is a contract position with a period of performance for 3 years through September 30, 2027.
  • This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from the hours of
    7:30AM 4:30PM.
  • On-call coverage. Contract provider may expect to be in an on-call status away from the MTF
    approximately 26 weeks of every 52 weeks. Commonly this call coverage will commence at the
    end of the contract provider's regular work day and continue up to the start of the contract
    provider's regular shift the next regular work day. When paged, contractor must respond, at
    minimum via telephone, within fifteen (15) minutes and be capable of physically being in the
    MTF within 60 minutes after telephonic communication when deemed necessary
