SCHOOL BUS DRIVER

Part time

NATURE OF WORK

An employee in this class is responsible for the safe, and timely transport of all Gates County students to and from school which are assigned to their individual routes. Employee may also be asked to assist with transporting other students during times of Driver shortages.

ILLISTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

• Maintain a safe environment during transport of students to and from
• Maintain a daily route
• Checks bus daily, and reports to Transportation any issues relating to the
• Maintain a clean bus including sweeping of the bus interior twice (compensation included)
• Responsible for attending meetings held at the request of the Transportation (compensation included)
• Responsible for updating and maintaining a current route sheet to be kept on their
• During an event when Driver needs to be off from their daily duties, Driver must notify Transportation within a timely (see Driver handbook)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Considerable knowledge oflaws governing highway & traffic
• Considerable knowledge of bus controls, and
• Responsible for knowledge of Gates County Driver

SUGGESTED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Driver must have attended and passed the CDLffraffic safety class taught by NCDOT and Traffic
• Driver must pass walk around test, and road test given by NCDOT and Traffic
• Special needs Drivers must also have attended training on securing/ transporting wheelchair bound

SPECIAL REOUIRMENTS

• Must possess a valid North Carolina "Real ID" CDL class B license to include P, and S
• Must conform to all requirements set forth by FMCSA for mandatory random drug
