Job description

Duties Processes requests for Restricted Area Badges and other clerical work. Processes forms for entry or access requirements to restricted areas. Assists Security Forces Operations in collecting data from Defense Visitor Enrollment System (DVES). Collects data from the web-based system and completed background checks through Division of Criminal Information (DCI) database. Interprets various DoD, AF, and other established federal directives and applies them to local situations. Compiles a variety of information and assists in the preparation and publication of various security plans, annexes, and operations instructions, such as the installation security, resource protection, or combined security plan, installation defense plan, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must complete initial online questionnaire and additional assessment(s) U.S. Citizenship is required Males must be registered for Selective Service, see Disclosure of Political Appointments If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, or the GS-0086, Security Clerical and Assistance Series. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience at the next lower grade GS-03, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of general experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR EDUCATION: I have successfully completed two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions. 2. Knowledge of procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorization documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits, or other forms of authorization. 3. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; support office and security operations; and produce a variety of documents and reports. 4. Skill and ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects. 5. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
