Overview:
SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Applications Engineering Analyst is responsible for implementing and supporting a wide range of computing environments and includes the role of SAP Basis Administrator plus a wide range of application, database, and server technology skill sets.

This position contributes to project work for implementations, migrations and extensions. In addition, this position manages routine software upgrades and patch deployments, restart, recovery, and system tuning, as required.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Follows and recommends improvements to all IT standard operating procedures for this area

Ensures the day-to-day administrative tasks are completed for all SAP systems

Monitors systems for performance

Performs system administration and maintenance as required

Leads efforts to solve complex issues across multiple IT disciplines

Plans and implements SAP upgrades for all systems in the various SAP landscapes including DEV, QAS, PROD, ECC BW HANA, Business Objects, JAVA, OpenText Documentum, and Solutions Manager

Sets up and monitors SAP Archiving as required

Provides Database Administration as required

Assists with SAP Security Administration as required

Assists with Disaster Recover planning and testing as required

Documents any issues through identified incident management or change management processes.

Resolves SSO, SNC (Secure Network Communication) and SAPGUI connectivity issues

Assists functional and technical team members in troubleshooting and problem resolution

Develops and implements backup, patch, note, and upgrade strategies

Perform rigorous quality checks to ensure efficient use of all SAP hardware, software, operating systems, and databases

Leads incident response as-needed and performs root-cause and improvement analyses.

Leads definition and implementation of IT standard operating procedures for this area

Performs daily tasks, provides support, and implements upgrades for non-SAP systems including Aventx Faxing, internal email services, Oracle 12c and higher, Oracle App Server, SUSE 12, MS SQL Server, and Documentum.

QUALIFICATIONS

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education/Certification Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer-related field preferred

SAP Training/Certification preferred

Experience

4+ years of experience in SAP Basis

Experience with SAP Java skills preferred

Experience in a Microsoft Server and SQL Server SAP environments preferred

Knowledge/Skills

In-depth understanding and implementation of SAP best practices for basis administration

Basic Networking knowledge

Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware

Extensive knowledge of automation and alerting technologies

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Project management skills preferred

Abilities

Ability to analyze current processes that can be automated for time savings.

Ability to plan and coordinate application upgrades

Ability to solve complex technical problems

Ability to work at times other than normal business hours and provide after-hours support

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Ability to work in front of a laptop or PC workstation for extended periods of time

Occasional standing, sitting, walking, and talking on the phone

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment. Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion.
