The primary purpose of the Health Care Tech I (Vocational Trainer) is to ensure safety and quality active treatment for the residents of JIRDC through direct program/service development and implementation during the day program with the oversight of the Vocational Program Director and the Vocational Teacher. The Vocational Trainer is responsible for the supervision and training of groups of residents who receive day services in the Vocational Enrichment program, and must be skilled in person-centered philosophies, skill assessments, program design, program implementation and incidental teaching strategies. The Vocational Trainer is responsible for writing and conducting teaching programs as specified in resident person-centered plans, for maintaining documentation of resident progress and for writing monthly progress notes. The Vocational Trainer is responsible for planning the schedule of activities during the day program as well as providing training for residents during mealtimes and for implementing training for groups of residents addressing the skill areas of self-care, vocational, communication, community living and functional academics. The Vocational Trainer is responsible for writing work programs, collecting data on resident objectives, writing monthly progress notes, monitoring and analyzing performance data of residents and presenting data at resident's person-centered plan meetings. The Vocational Trainer must be physically and mentally capable of providing eight hours of care and training to individuals with severe intellectual and physical disabilities. The position requires the ability to comprehend and implement verbal and written directions including residents' person-centered plans. The Vocational Trainer must be capable of clearly communicating information in writing and must be able to accurately observe and record information. The Vocational Trainer must react quickly under stressful situations to keep residents safe. This position will work one late evening per week. One year of experience providing direct care or active treatment to individuals with developmental disabilities Experience working with individuals with IDD in a vocational setting (training for an occupation and its skills.) High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
