POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversee the day-to-day operational management of the Thrift Store.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Two years of retail management experience, preferably in a thrift store or consignment setting
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of and commitment to the hospice philosophy of care
Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Ability to work well with others
Willingness to work with customers, co-workers, volunteers and the community regardless of race, color, creed, age or sexual orientation. Must respect their beliefs and philosophy with an attitude of openness and receptiveness
Excellent computer skills, including Excel and Word required
Excellent customer service skills
Requirements:TRAINING-INITIAL AND ONGOING:
Complete Hospice volunteer/staff training program
Complete Hospice orientation program
Obtain eight hours of continuing education per year, including mandatory safety in-service
Attend minimum of six staff meetings per year
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in orienting new team members, as requested
Participate in quality improvement program
Adhere to strict confidentiality
Adhere to safety policy and practices
Complete employee time record accurately on a timely basis
Cooperate with all government agencies and outside auditors
Assist with updating policies and procedures, as appropriate
Complete annual TB screening
Assure all license, certifications, continuing education information and any other required documentation are submitted to human resources and kept current
Maintain up-to-date documentation required and specified in Hospice policy and procedure
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
Maintain all areas of the thrift store and parking lot to ensure a clean, well-organized, safe environment
Implement measures to control potential safety hazards and theft
Maintain thrift store truck
Maintain accurate records of Product Safety and Recall Information
Acknowledge all donations as specified in Hospice policy and procedure
Responsible for daily sales reports, bank deposits and change orders
Maintain petty cash fund for thrift store with accurate records of expenses and reimbursements
Oversee the display of merchandise on the sales floor
Manage merchandise turnover
Schedule large donation pick-up with company truck
Work with supervisor and volunteer coordinator to meet staffing needs
Maintain work schedule for employees and volunteers
Assist with budget development and oversight as it relates to the thrift store
Participate as member of leadership team
Interview, hire, and supervise all thrift store staff and complete all required performance evaluations
Assure all thrift store staff adhere to personnel policy
Assure all thrift store staff promote the philosophy of hospice as directed by the chief executive officer
Coordinate continuing education for thrift store staff
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Visual acuity to read written documentation and computer tasks
Speech and hearing skills necessary for telephone interaction and face to face contact
Ability to sit extended periods of time and perform administrative tasks
Ability to stand, bend and lift an average of 50 pounds
Manual dexterity with the ability to manipulate office equipment and keyboard for extended periods of time
Ability to walk, squat, kneel, climb and balance
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have an automobile with required insurance coverage and state driver's license
