Position: Field Service Manager

Status: Exempt Salaried

Reports To: General Manager

Position Summary:

Manage, coordinate, and prioritize all aspects of field service operations, including large project supervision, installation, start-up, service pricing, and customer satisfaction. Responsible for overall profit and loss of the operating unit and for recruiting and developing personnel. Ensure timely completion of activities within budget and to customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

• Manage field and in-house assignments for Service Engineers and Technicians based on contract size and timing.

• Implement business strategy for continued growth of the operating unit.

• Conduct performance reviews, discipline, and provide training for field workforce.

• Ensure employees follow all necessary safety procedures and use appropriate equipment.

• Maintain comprehensive work files for service personnel to understand the scope of work.

• Identify and recommend operational improvements.

• Analyze scope of work requirements and current procedures, addressing problems and continuous improvements.

• Oversee and process timesheets, travel, and expenses for field personnel.

• Provide technical support to customers and field personnel.

• Mentor field personnel in general activities and specialized skills, assisting with project specifications.

• Coordinate Field Service Department activities as needed.

• Prepare quotations and manage special projects, ensuring timely completion.

• Process completed projects through billing and provide monthly revenue and margin forecasts.

• Recruit, develop, and retain qualified personnel for shop priorities.

• Ensure succession plans are in place for departmental needs.

• Travel to customer locations to build relationships and explore new segments.

• Conduct periodic safety audits to ensure adherence to safety policies.

• Monitor material and process nonconformance to prevent use of nonconforming items and facilitate learning from problems.

• Investigate accidents and close calls to determine safe work practices.

• Maintain professionalism when interacting with customers, employees, vendors, and service providers.

• Lead by example, advocating and adhering to all quality, safety, and environmental procedures.

• Support special projects as assigned by the General Manager, which may become part of primary responsibilities.

Measures of Success:

• Efficiency in field service operations, minimizing rework and warranty costs, and effective manpower utilization.

• Progression towards the company vision.

• Growth in revenue and field service opportunities.

• On-time arrival of service crew.

• On-time completion of projects and service reports within budget.

• Meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required.

• In-depth knowledge of motor repair and field service experience.

• Experience in field service, motor repair, and project management.

• Proficiency in Excel and Word, and excellent customer interface skills.

• Ability to work towards company objectives, detail-oriented, and effectively direct personnel.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated manager/team skills are critical for development and ongoing projects involving diverse teams.

• Flexibility to adapt to changes in job requirements.

Additional Qualifications:

• Must pass check's and screen's.

• If duties involve operating a motor vehicle, must pass a motor vehicle record check.
