As the Controls Systems Engineering Manager at WSA-USA, you will manage day to day operations of the automation controls engineers and electrical resources supporting and improving all aspects of the controls system hardware, software and interfaces for the automation installations of our customer projects. You will be the Subject Matter Expert for the development, maintenance, modification and deployment of controls equipment programs, configuration files and documentation. This includes but not limited to hardware, electrical, safety, pneumatic, network, robotics, PLC and HMI.

Other specific responsibilities include:

Manage, coach and develop a high performing team meeting objectives, delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements for our business and customers.
Be a key driver for the relentless pursuit of continuous improvement while maintaining a focus on cycle time reduction, robot optimization, fast fault recovery and downtime reduction for our equipment solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop control system specifications and requirements.
Lead compliance of all programming and logic to appropriate standards (ANSI/OSHA) with reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors and other high volume production equipment.
Conceptualize, design, engineer, and execute industry leading projects from start to finish. Develop and design control systems architecture using CAD Software. Integrate industrial robots for material handling, packaging and other support related equipment.
Troubleshoot PLC/HMI issues and develop solutions to improve system functionality.
Interface with industry leading customers.
Provide training and support to team members and other departments as needed.

To be successful in this role you must be a self-motivated professional that is passionate about automated control systems and strives to be at the leading edge of control system automation. You must also be able to demonstrate proven success as a leader with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiencies.

Other requirements include:

BS/MS Electrical Engineering or equivalent with major in Controls, Computer Controls Systems, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation Engineering etc.
10+ years of Automation Controls Engineering experience
5+ years of leadership experience
Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, Office 365, etc.)
UL, NEC, and NFPA 70E knowledge, CSA is preferred but not required
AutoCAD experience required
Allen Bradley Studio 5000 required, RS 500 required (Compact Logix and MicroLogix)
Safety control system experience
Willingness to travel 20-30%, work nights and/or weekends
An understanding on how networks are designed and implemented (Class types, subnet design and implementation, and IP assigning and documentation)
Designing HMI operator screen layouts to interface with development of PLC logic
Clean sheet PLC logic design and implementation using electrical schematics and machine layouts using internal state machine programming style
Understanding of controls engineering standards and best practices
Capability to complete demanding assignments by applying advanced controls engineering methods and tools
Ability to influence cross-functional teams to deliver optimal solutions
Ability to quickly analyze, incorporate and apply latest information and concepts
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and configuration
Experience with robot programming, a plus
