Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Engineering Director to lead an Engineering & Sciences (E&S) organization that supports the Networked Information Systems (NIS) Division. This Director role is in the Cyber & Processing Engineering (C&PE) organization that supports the Xetron Operating Unit within the Cyber & Information Solutions Business Unit. The team is mainly located in Cincinnati and Beavercreek OH and Tampa, FL. There are a few small sites in Colorado, Georgia, Washington, D.C, and Maryland. The Director position will have an office in Cincinnati, OH with regular travel between the larger sites. Travel to the small sites is on an as needed basis. In this role, the Engineering Director will be responsible for the following: Lead the development and implementation of technical roadmap strategies Ensure the business is appropriately staffed and enable resource sharing across multiple business areas Identify and implement strategies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the business of Engineering in collaboration with peers Drive engineering strategy and practices pertinent to all of the E&S NIS portfolio, including but not limited to investments and talent strategy Growing the headcount with continued, strong focus on retention efforts, engagement initiatives, and diversity Drive key talent development and workforce planning efforts Elevate engineering rigor in key areas such as Systems Engineering and overall process compliance Develop and maintain critical skills plans and actions to support existing programs and AOP pursuits Prioritize engineering investments aligned with strategic imperatives Collaborate with peers across the Division and Sector to eliminate roadblocks and advance initiatives
Key attributes of the Engineering Director Proven experience as a team player and collaborator Previous experience in People and Technical Leadership roles Very strong engineering background in multiple program phases Solid understanding of engineering process with execution experience across the program lifecycle Demonstrate thought leadership on digital transformation Serve as the day-to-day E&S focal point for the respective Operating Unit Directors
Candidates must have exceptional leadership and teambuilding skills, strategic thinking, strong technical acumen, and the ability to lead multiple engineering disciplines across programs. The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and therefore must have excellent communication skills, presentation experience and the ability to work seamlessly with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the organization. The candidate must have the ability to build consensus and resolve conflict. The candidate must collaborate with business area leadership, and other functional partners to resolve complex issues in a timely manner to help meet program commitments. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience, a Master's degree with 10 years of experience or a PhD with 8 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields 8 years of professional experience in the defense or aerospace industries 5 years demonstrated success managing technical teams 5 years of experience working in a technical role Experience driving hardware, software and systems engineering processes for program performance and continuous improvement across the entire program lifecycle Active Secret Clearance required; US Citizenship is required in order to obtain and maintain security clearance Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI with Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph or Full Scope (FS) Polygraph
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields. Program management experience Success as leader of large, multi-discipline, geographically dispersed organization Experience managing large control accounts with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and technical performance Experience with product line management and product line engineering Proven success in creating and executing affordability initiatives Active DoD Security Clearance Top Secret with SCI CI or FS Polygraph Cyber domain knowledgeSalary Range: $190,600 - $285,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
