THE ROLE:

  • Responsible for reviewing bi-weekly payroll to ensure salaries, other earnings, taxes, withholdings, and any special adjustments are accurate.
  • Serve as secondary contact with company staff for all payroll issues.
  • Approve monthly and ad hoc journal entries prepared by Staff Accountants.
  • Monitor cash flow and assist in the preparation and review of monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor daily bank activity and approve monthly statements.
  • Process monthly electronic transfers of allocations to funded agencies and approve weekly electronic payments to other agencies and vendors.
  • Coordinate preparation and detailed review of monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Coordinate the preparation and review for reconciliations and analysis of all other balance sheet accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Prepare month-end general ledger closing entries and financial statement reports for assigned organizations, fiscally sponsored programs, and departments.
  • Present and discuss financial reports at Finance Committee meetings for assigned organizations.
  • Coordinate and prepare assigned year-end audit schedules for assigned organizations.
  • Serve as a key staff member for year-end audit preparation and independent auditor questions.
  • Prepare special studies, financial reports, and analyses as requested by the CFO and department heads.
  • Respond timely and accurately to questions from departments and managers regarding financial reports or other financial issues.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting/Finance
  • Strong leadership skills and a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role
  • 5-10 years of professional accounting experience
  • Must have a strong desire to be driven by the mission of the organization
  • Should be able to present a strong business and accounting acumen
  • Experience working with or overseeing payroll is a plus
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a must
