Facility: Dayton Children's - Main Campus Department: NICU Schedule: Full time Hours: 40 Job Details: The Nurse Educator serves as an expert clinical practitioner who utilizes specialized knowledge, skill, research, and competency acquired through education and experience to collaborate within the multidisciplinary team to promote continuity of care for children and their families. The Nurse Manager assesses educational needs and subsequently develops and coordinates the education plan in collaboration with the Assistant Nurse Managers, Nurse Manager, and the Director. The Nurse Educator assists with the orientation and training of the new employees and/or those pulled in the unit from other areas; Participates in the Quality improvement process by providing input and completion of audits; Provides input on employee performance appraisals; Adheres to hospital policies, including but not limited to confidentiality, attendance, safety and infection control; Participates with DCH leaders to provide and improve health care services that are responsive to the community and patients' needs and improve health care outcomes in conjunction with the hospital mission. Department Specific Job Details: Our Level III NICU is the most comprehensive NICU in the region and is the main referral center for premature and sick newborns. Newborns who reach our center have a 99 percent survival rate and a low incidence of complications. Our NICU is designed to meet the special needs of our medically fragile patients-and help their families develop close bonds with them as they grow stronger under our care. Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program required MS or MSN in Nursing from an accredited program preferred Certifications/License RN licensure in State of Ohio required CPR Certification required PALS Certification required Experience 3 - 5 years specializing in education,pediatrics, hospital setting required Skills/competencies Clinical care Patient Safety Regulatory Compliance Education Collaboration Communication/Customer Service Computer Education Requirements: Bachelors: Nursing (Required) Certification/License Requirements: Lic RN: Registered Nurse (RN) - Ohio Board of Nursing, CPR: Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation - American Heart Association, PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association
