Job description

Title: School Bus Driver
Reports to: Transportation supervisor and assistant transportation supervisor
Work Activity Classification: Light
Employment Status: Full-time
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Full Contract Days: 188

SERS Retirement

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Hold a current Ohio Class B CDL license with School Bus and Passenger endorsement.
3. Be insurable with not more than four points on the Ohio driver's license.
4. Complete and pass a T-8 physical yearly.
5. High moral character and good attendance record.
6. Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of tasks assigned.

General Description: Provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy
the fullest possible advantage from the district's curricular and extra-curricular programs.

Essential Functions:

  1. Meet all requirements as outlined by the State of Ohio.
  1. Know and obey traffic laws and regulations set forth in the Ohio School Bus Operation Regulations manual.
  1. Perform PTI prior to beginning route as dictated by Ohio laws.
  1. Be the sole operator of the school bus.
  1. Attend bus drivers' meetings in the district or county unless excused by administration.
  1. Follow all rules set forth by the transportation office and approve by the Cloverleaf Board of Education.
  1. Be responsible for fueling bus.
  1. Be responsible for keeping his/her bus clean inside.
  2. Be responsible for the orderly conduct of riders. Pupils on the bus are under the authority of, and directly responsible to, the driver.
  3. Reports serious discipline problems to the transportation supervisor.
  1. Deliver bus for servicing and repairs as directed by transportation supervisor and/or head mechanic.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as a role model for students and staff in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
  1. Help instill in students and staff the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
  1. Conduct other related driver's duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor, assistant transportation supervisor, assistant superintendent and local superintendent and as permitted by the negotiated agreement.


Additional Working Conditions:
  1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
  2. Occasional operation of a school bus under inclement weather conditions.
  3. Occasional interaction among unruly children.


Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the board.
