Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and back up all payroll processes, including time entry, personnel setup, payroll checks, and transfers.
  • Maintain comprehensive payroll records: earnings, deductions, compensated absences, tax withholding forms, etc.
  • Administer bonus checks, savings programs, and other taxable employee benefits.
  • Review and investigate any inconsistencies with Cooperative's policies and the union contract.
  • Assist in preparing payroll-related reports, tax returns, and month-end closings.
  • Assist with other financial tasks: accounts payable, credit card reconciliations, general ledger functions.
  • Contribute to financial reporting and auditing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 1-3 years of payroll processing experience preferred
  • Proficiency in payroll software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll regulations and tax laws
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and financial regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
