Job Purpose
In this role you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the Prototype phase of New Model projects. You will provide technical engineering expertise to ensure the quality of the prototype vehicle and work with design and test associates to solve problems and develop countermeasures.
Key Accountabilities
Metal Fabrication - Prototype Development
- Build or Modify Prototype Parts and Vehicles to match design specifications.
- Collaborate with design and test associates to achieve the goals of each project.
- Develop skills and expertise in Metals cutting, forming, and Welding (MIG, TIG, Spot).
- Utilize Catia 3D design to create or modify parts, fixtures and confirm design layouts.
- Optimize equipment and procedures with a priority on safety, quality and efficiency.
New Model Project Management
- Evaluate project scope, determine resources required and coordinate schedules.
- Coordinate technical support for new development or research projects.
- Research prototype equipment and facility investments to support long-term strategy.
New Model Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Analyze Catia design data and part quality to identify and solve potential problems.
- Evaluate Honda Engineering Standards and design specification applications.
- Work with design and test associates to solve problems and propose design changes.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelors degree in science / engineering or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years related work experience
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Knowledge of vehicle construction and assembly
- Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
- CATIA V5 operation knowledge
- Basic electrical and mechanical skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
Working Conditions
