About this Position:
Total business analysis of product or technology projects to ensure the business prospect is profitable for Honda prior to development resources being committed to the project. Study will include current competitive field and market positioning scenarios, as well as the identification of key enablers and features necessary to delivery an appealing product to our customers. Engage with cross functional team and Dept/Division leaders within Automotive Purchasing Division along with large project teams from other Business Units. Develop and execute Project Plans per specified assign commodity that achieve the A00 Targets for assigned projects and forecast profitability of various scenarios. Lead and manage assigned projects in all aspects from start to finish.
Responsibilities include:
- Benchmarking: Conduct in-depth benchmarking activities to further develop insights discovered through sensing. This will include teardown of competitor vehicles to the system and part level and documentation of physical characteristics. Where gaps exist to the corresponding Honda product regarding specification and performance differences, correlate with function department technical leaders to develop testing specification and criteria in order to perform testing to pinpoint the reason for the performance or cost gap. Make proposals for appropriate action to address the issue.
- Sensing: Continuously study developments in the automotive industry to understand latest trends in products and technology coming into the market. Compare with historical data and develop a qualitative hypothesis about the driving factors influencing the direction of the industry.
- Consulting, Internal: Share information cross-functionally with groups having vested interests in the analysis being conducted (ie. Design, Purchasing, AH Strategy, Supplier). Adjust research to address input from these business units.
- Consulting, External: In certain cases, it may be necessary to engage an expert third party to bring a different perspective to a subject under study. In such a case, collaborate with a designated partner for in-depth study to identify key differences and quantify areas of opportunity. Supervise the vendor's work regularly through meetings while giving appropriate feedback.
- Reporting: Gain consensus within the research team on conclusions to be drawn from the sensing and benchmarking analysis. Prepare a report summarizing findings and recommendation on path forward and specific actions to take.
- Special Projects: Lead assigned short term business innovation projects resulting from benchmarking activities.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or relevant field
- 8+ years depending on education/degree and relevant work experience
- Strong understanding of Honda SED flow,
- Good project management experience, technical analysis, and problem solving
- Proficient in Microsoft, good organization skills, leadership experience,
- Strong presentation skills
- Analyze information and evaluate results to select the best solution for the organization and the business (win-win)
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with design and purchasing divisions.
- Ability to work with ambiguity in a fast paced environment
- Domestic and International (avg length of 1-2 weeks) travel may be requested (10%)
- Willingness to work overtime due to the cyclical business needs of our NM schedule
- Open office environment with moderate level of noise and activity
- Hybrid (60% in office /40%bremote) Blended remote work based on management discretion and operating needs
- Regular occurrence of communicating and presenting information in groups and to Honda management for evaluation purposes.
