Position Summary & Responsibilities

  • Manage all the site's environmental permits (e.g. air, wastewater, etc.).
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports (Air Permit, Sara TIER II, RCRA Hazardous Waste, TRI, Wastewater, Infectious Waste, refrigerants, etc.).
  • Review and track environmental investigations related to injuries, illnesses, environmental releases, non-injury accidents and near misses to ensure that they are effective, and that they identify and resolve root causes.
  • Ensure controlled materials are destroyed in conjunction with client expectations.
  • Track and collect Certificates of Destruction for controlled materials to ensure proper client billing.
  • Perform internal and external audits to assess compliance with legal and company requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish site EHS policies, objectives, key performance indicators and targets.
  • Maintain and Report Monthly KPI's (Energy, Water, Waste, Recycling, GHG's).
  • Develop and maintain environmental compliance systems and programs.
  • Review change proposals (including capital projects and new product introductions) to identify potential EHS issues and participate in their resolution.
  • Monitor and analyze EHS performance and initiate actions to support or correct trends.
  • Act as Environmental Compliance Point of Contact for Functional Area EHS Coordinators and emergency response personnel (ERCs and Emergency Response Team Members).
  • Act as Sustainability Program Lead - Waste and Recycling program maintenance and improvements.
  • Manage onsite waste programs.
  • Incumbent must be able to support rapid launch of new initiatives in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must possess excellent risk analysis/risk assessment skills.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Experience establishing / Maintaining Environmental Management Programs
  • Computer experience (spreadsheets, word processing, PowerPoint) and must maintain accurate and precise records
  • Possess the skills to work collaboratively with other teams
  • Public speaking skills are a must



Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years relevant experience in environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Current certification of hazardous materials and emergency response training under 29CFR1910.120 preferred
  • Current RCRA Certification
  • Current DOT/IATA Certification
  • Experience in PHA, HAZOP, conducting JSA, writing Safety and Environmental-specific programs and conducting applicable training.
  • ISO 14001 Auditor Certification
  • CHMM Certification
  • Pharmaceuticals manufacturing or chemical manufacturing, GMP environment, etc., preferred.
  • Ohio Title V Air Permit Experience

Key Relationships

Internal:

  • Works closely with Operations and Laboratories: Production Managers and Supervisors on environmental communications and accident investigation support
  • Main point of contact regarding environmental concerns for Functional Area EHS Specialists and emergency response personnel (ERCs and Emergency Response Team Members)
  • Act as Commercial Team Point of Contact for tracking client waste and sustainability initiatives.

External:

  • Serve as one of the site trainers for Safety, Health and Environment for the facility.
  • Direct site waste handling program, including four to six contractors collecting hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
  • Ability to interface with customers, suppliers, and regulatory officials for auditing and visits.

Our target base pay hiring range for this position is $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year. Actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's geographical location, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge.
