Mailroom Clerk


We are looking for a reliable and organized Mailroom Clerk to join our client's team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring it is sorted, distributed, and processed efficiently. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:


Mail Sorting and Distribution:



  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages to the appropriate departments or individuals in a timely manner.

  • Prepare outgoing mail for pickup or courier services, including addressing, packaging, and stamping.

  • Manage special deliveries, such as certified or overnight mail, ensuring proper tracking and handling.


Record Keeping and Tracking:



  • Maintain accurate logs of incoming and outgoing mail, including tracking numbers for special deliveries.

  • Ensure accurate distribution of interoffice mail and packages across different company locations or departments.

  • Monitor and manage mailroom supplies (e.g., envelopes, postage, packing materials) and place orders as necessary.


Package Handling:



  • Receive and process incoming shipments, ensuring the correct documentation is filled out.

  • Sort and distribute packages to the appropriate recipients or departments.

  • Coordinate with couriers and delivery services for pickups and deliveries.


Equipment Operation:



  • Operate and maintain mailroom equipment, including postage meters, scanners, copiers, and label makers.

  • Troubleshoot any issues with mailroom equipment and schedule repairs or maintenance as needed.


Customer Service:



  • Assist employees with questions or issues related to mail, shipments, and package deliveries.

  • Provide assistance with packaging and preparing shipments, including helping to determine postage or shipping costs.

  • Ensure that sensitive or confidential mail is handled securely and according to company policies.


Compliance and Safety:



  • Ensure all mailroom activities comply with company policies and regulations, including confidentiality and security protocols.

  • Adhere to safety guidelines for lifting, handling, and transporting packages.


Requirements:



  • Previous experience in a mailroom, shipping/receiving, or administrative role preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees and couriers.

  • Physical ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.


Compensation:



  • Competitive hourly wage ($15-18/hr), depending on experience.
