Position Title: Deputy Sheriff (Criminal Patrol) - Entry Level and Lateral Candidates
The Linn County Sheriff's Office is currently recruiting for Deputy Sheriff (Criminal Patrol) positions, both Entry Level and Lateral candidates, and is building an ongoing eligibility list for current and future positions. This recruitment may close at any time without further notice.

Salary Information: $5,155 to $6,491 per month (base salary)
Location: Linn County, Oregon
Eligibility Requirements:
Age: 21 years or older at the time of employment
Citizenship: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Education: High School Diploma or GED required
Driver's License: Valid Oregon State Driver's License required
Vision: Must meet the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) requirement of 20/30 corrected vision
Certifications: Must be able to be certified as a police officer by DPSST
Entry Level Candidates:
Testing: All entry-level candidates must complete the Frontline and ORPAT tests. A passing score of 65% or higher on the video exam is required. The ORPAT must be completed with a time of 5:30 or less.
Lateral Candidates:
Experience: Please include previous experience in your application. Salary compensation will be based on current experience level and pay. Testing through the National Testing Network (Frontline and ORPAT) is not required for lateral applicants at this time.

Background Check:
Finalists will be subject to an extensive background investigation, which includes but is not limited to:

Criminal History: No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for domestic violence, dishonesty, or crimes resulting in serious physical injury to another.
Driving Record: Must be a competent and licensed operator of vehicles in Oregon.
Drug Use: No arrests or convictions for any felony or misdemeanor crimes involving unlawful substances.
Additional Disqualifiers: Must pass a psychological exam, medical exam, including drug screening, and an integrity interview. Any conduct compromising the integrity of the employee, the Sheriff's Office, or the County will be closely evaluated.

Informal face-to-face interview for eligible and invited applicants (includes a short job tour)
Formal oral board interview for eligible and invited applicants
Conditional offer of employment extended to selected top candidates
