Job description

The Medical Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health (BH) at St. Charles Bend oversees the inpatient BH services, consult liaison (CL) services, and psychiatric units. This role involves both clinical care and administrative responsibilities . The Medical Director will work closely with hospital departments and leadership to ensure quality patient care, manage operational duties, and collaborate on policy and strategy for the department. The role is full-time (M-F) with a combination of direct patient care and administrative duties. No formal call responsibilities are required, but the director is expected to be available for urgent issues.

Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.
Coordinate patient care, including medication management and ancillary services.
Lead inpatient adult psychiatry services and consult with medical staff.
Oversee quality and safety measures for psychiatric care.
Support the development of BH policies, patient flow, and staff collaboration.

Work Environment:

The Inpatient Behavioral Health Department consists of two accredited psychiatric units: a 15-bed unit (Sage View) and a 5-bed Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) unit. The department also offers consult services across the St. Charles Health System campuses.

Requirements:
Education : MD/DO degree, completion of residency in psychiatry, board certification in Psychiatry, and continuing medical education (CME) as required.
Experience : Hospital and outpatient psychiatry experience, strong communication and leadership skills, and familiarity with healthcare teams.
Licensure : Oregon medical license, unrestricted DEA, and board certification in psychiatry.

Preferred Experience:
Two or more years of inpatient adult psychiatry and experience with Epic EMR software.

Pay: $372,446.00 - $383,815.00 per year
