Responsibilities

As SMS continues to evolve and grow, an additional support position is required within SMS to act as a liaison between the Optum Analytics team, Operations and Growth organizations. There has been a growing number of requests for performance data, metrics, dashboards and complicated analyses that require additional supporting players to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. The fulfillment of this budgeted Consultant will allow for the existing data and analytics teammates to focus on originally structured roles, responsibilities, and respond to the expanded data science requests from SMS, Optum product and UHC leadership.

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop, track, & interpret KPIs, as well as leading and lagging indicators, which will allow operations to maximize business performance
  • Translate data insights, patterns and trends into actionable KPIs maximizing revenue gained through each stage of a client's journey with the SMS solution
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop tools and models such as segmentation, dashboards, data visualizations, decision aids and business case analysis to support the organization
  • Assist Sales team with identifying profitable clients & streamlining sales strategies that will optimize revenue for the company
  • Align Client Management needs and strategies with overall revenue goals, and identify the drivers of client performance, good or bad
  • Special projects as needed that will help SMS make better decisions and increase efficiency and profitability

Qualifications

System Expertise:

  • Knowledge of SAS, Tableau, etc

Role Prerequisites:

  • BS/BA in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Health Care Administration, or related field, advanced degree a plus
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Analytical curiosity and attention to detail
  • Flexible and able to adapt to and changing timelines and revisions
  • Ability to apply computer science principles relating to data representation, retrieval, programming, and analysis
  • Able to apply mathematical and statistical models and concepts to detect patterns in data, and to draw inferences and conclusions supported by data
  • Critical thinking skills associated with problem identification, problem solving and decision making, assessing value propositions supported by data, and generating a logical synthesis of information from data
  • Applies knowledge gained from one area to problems and data in another
  • Successfully communicate findings and their implications, and to apply them effectively in organizational settings
