Department Summary
Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life. Our employees perform a wide range of functions including offering essential financial tools and support to the universitys many departments, providing key resources to employees, and keeping campus safe, clean, accessible and beautiful.
Established in 2012, the Transportation Services Department is an auxiliary unit within Finance and Administration whose goal is to provide customer-oriented sustainable transportation and parking programs and services to students, employees, and visitors to the University of Oregon. Transportation Services covers its expenses and operations through revenue generation, largely through permit sales, meter revenue, events, and citations. The units annual budget is approximately $4 million. Transportation Services maintains more than 3,800 parking spaces on or adjacent to campus in more than 60 lots and two multi-level parking garages.
Position Summary
The Transportation Services Field Generalist (TSFG) is responsible for enforcing campus parking policies in an equitable, consistent, and community minded manner in accordance with university rules and policies. This position maintains complete knowledge of university rules and policies and effectively conveys those rules to the students, faculty, staff and visitors to the University of Oregon. This includes providing motorist assistance, and transportation services such as bicycle lock cuts. This also includes serving as an ambassador for the department and the university and adhering to a high standard of customer service and professionalism.
The TSFG must be able to make decisions independently as to the consistent and equitable enforcement of applicable parking rules and departmental policies. This position must be able to work with campus partners in the field to help facilitate their work while maintaining safety and the orderly flow of traffic on campus and compliance with university parking rules.
The TSFG also serves the students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the University of Oregon by providing safe, timely, and courteous transport to those with mobility challenges via the University Access Shuttle Driver. The TSFG is responsible for scheduling and completing rides for University of Oregon Students, Faculty, Staff and visitors, performing daily vehicle checks, scheduling vehicle maintenance, keeping detail passenger and maintenance records, ensuring the vehicle is kept in a neat and orderly condition, and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of specialized equipment. This requires having a thorough knowledge of campus grounds, buildings and departments as well as university and department policies related to the Access Shuttle. This position is additionally responsible for maintaining a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA.
This position is overseen by the Field Operations Manager. Performance is reviewed on an annual basis. Evaluations are geared to increase knowledge and identify areas for training opportunities.
DRIVING REQUIREMENT:
It is an essential requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain UO driver's certification eligibility, which includes maintaining an Oregon drivers license throughout employment in this position.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL:
This unit may provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
2 years post-secondary education and/or 2 years experience, which must include a minimum of one year parking, code compliance, or public contact experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to obtain a University of Oregon driver certification, with van endorsement.
