The City of Redmond is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill vacancies for the position of Police Officer. All candidates must take the FrontLine National test and have a valid passing ORPAT score. Candidates are also required to complete a City of Redmond Law Enforcement application through NeoGov.

Out-of-state applicants without a valid ORPAT score will be required to pass the ORPAT as a condition of their employment. Lateral officers are not required to complete the NTN testing but must have a passing ORPAT score as a condition of employment.

Salary Information:
$6,150-$8,655 per month. With Certificate Pay, FLSA, and Overtime, the average Redmond Police Officer earns approximately $90,000 annually.

Job Qualification Requirements:
Mandatory Requirements:

Must be 21 years or older at the time of employment.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Oregon drivers license within 30 days of hire without record of suspension or revocation in any state.
Must have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven years.
No history of illegal drug use, including marijuana, in the past five years.
Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to obtain citizenship within 18 months of hire.
Must be able to read and write in English and be of good moral character.
Must pass a thorough background investigation.
Must meet Oregon police certification reciprocity requirements if certified out of state.
High school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for a two-year community college degree or vocational school training in a related field.
Special Requirements or Licenses:

Must possess or obtain a valid Oregon drivers license within 30 days of hire.
Must pass a thorough background investigation, physical, and psychological examination.
Must obtain a Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) basic certificate within one year.
Desirable Requirements:

Bachelors degree in police science, law enforcement, criminal justice administration, public administration, social science, or a related field.
Proficiency in both English and Spanish is a plus.

Conditional job offer contingent on passing a background check, physical, and psychological evaluation.
Working Conditions:

Works on rotating shifts (4 on/4 off) performing security patrols, traffic control, investigation, and first aid at accidents.
Responds to emergency situations, maintains availability for consultation, and adheres to Federal, State, County, and City laws and ordinances.
Patrols city streets, parks, commercial, and residential areas, responding to incidents and taking appropriate law enforcement action.
Disqualifiers for Employment:

Recent drivers license suspension or revocation.
Felony or misdemeanor convictions involving domestic violence or untruthfulness.
Illegal drug use within the past five years, including marijuana.
Inability to become a U.S. citizen within 18 months of hire.
Inability to be certified as a police officer through Oregon DPSST.
