Position: Accountant

Role Overview

We are on the lookout for an Accountant to become an integral part of our client's team. This position involves being the key point of contact with an external accounting firm, managing essential financial duties, and safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of financial documentation. This role is perfect for someone interested in contributing to a local nonprofit dedicated to making a significant community impact. Additionally, there is considerable flexibility for remote work for someone who lives in the Portland area!

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
• Precisely allocate monthly expenses, deposits, and payroll entries.
• Work closely with the external accounting team to finalize monthly financial reports.
• Collaborate with organizational leaders to craft and oversee the annual budget.
• Monitor and manage program budgets and expenditures, ensuring adherence to funding guidelines.
• Prepare financial reports for presentation to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee.
• Coordinate financial disclosures to federal, state, and local funders.
• Lead and manage the annual audit process conducted by independent auditors.
• Handle tax documentation and filings in partnership with the external CPA.
• Support financial oversight by federal, state, and local agencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is strongly preferred.
• At least 4 years of accounting experience, with a background in nonprofit organizations.
• Minimum of 3 years working with public funding.
• Deep understanding of federal and state contracts, grants, and private contributions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 and excellent benefits including healthcare, vision, dental, retirement contribution, and PTO.
