Job Summary: To build significant, long-term relationships with employers within specific sectors to promote Job Corps as a premier no-cost training program for underprivileged youth.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop in cooperation with the Center Director and Workforce Development Director marketing materials and a business/employer outreach and recruitment plan that includes clear goals and objectives, a calendar of events that would help promote program awareness, and collaboration of other state funded employment and training programs.
- Engage with employers in specified sectors and support them with employee skills training and development, cross-selling and upselling Job Corps' full range of services.
- Liaise with employers seeking a Workbased Learning, Apprenticeship, and employment opportunities for students.
- Participates in various community-based programs and business networking groups.
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans and programs for the center's long- and short-term goals.
- Coordinates with the Workforce Development Department to align goals and target employers.
- Collaborate with business/employer groups, trade associations, chambers of commerce and other workforce entities to connect Job Corps participants to employment opportunities.
- Prepare overview and detailed presentations and marketing materials as necessary for public speaking and outreach engagements, and other uses as appropriate and assigned.
- Promote public relations of the center to the outside community and employers.
- Analyzes on an on-going basis the effectiveness and efficiency of programs and affects necessary changes.
- Establishes and develops meaningful relationships and networks with local and distant employers, applicable one-stop centers and applicable local boards to promote and provide job opportunities for graduates.
- Develops public awareness materials such as newsletters, brochures, posters, etc. Develops special materials to address targeted groups including females/minorities and employers.
- Establishes and develops meaningful relationships with members of the local community to keep them informed about the center and to consider areas of mutual interest to the center and the community.
- Works with center Work-based learning Coordinator to identify and develop innovative work-based learning opportunities for students with local employers.
- Develops programs to actively integrate community service into the center learning strategies and to involve students in national community service events.
- Participates on community service boards, local workforce or training associations, etc.
- Participates in the Vocational Advisory Council and facilitates a curriculum development team approach dedicated to the integration of academic, vocational and social skills in on going center curriculum development.
- Provides support to the center Workforce (Industry) and Community Relations Councils.
- Attends in-service training sessions.
- Provides in-service training for departmental staff as required.
- Insures departmental equal employment and affirmative action goals and objectives are met.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum/Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in work related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years work-related experience, one of which was in a supervisory capacity. Model company Core Values.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of education and vocational training programs. Ability to effectively relate to disadvantaged youth. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to motivate and inspire staff. Excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of local labor market and ability to analyze labor market trends. Ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups. Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the use of mass media.
