Job description

A Quality Technician is available in Tualatin, Oregon at Milgard Windows and Doors.

The Shift is Monday - Friday starting at 2:00 pm with the shift duration being 8 to 11 hours
This is an hourly position with the pay of $23.50 with a $2.00 shift differential

In this role, you will perform in-process and final inspection of insulated glass units, windows, and doors in accordance with established inspection standards. You will collect, prepare, and analyze data for corrective action and process improvement. To ensure a stable operation, you will perform process audits of equipment setup and conditions. When problems arise, you will inspect, quarantine, and problem solve with Production Leads/Supervisors.

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures related to all facets of the job.
  • Proper usage of personal protective equipment
  • Perform in-process and final inspection of insulated glass units, windows, and doors
  • Conduct random daily Water Intrusion Tests to finished products to comply with AAMA water rating standards and record the results
  • Perform process audits of equipment setup and conditions to ensure process controls are observed
  • Assist production in identifying root cause of defect trends. Recommend corrective/containment action as appropriate
  • Reviews rejects and defect trends with Production Leads/Supervisors
  • Calculates quality scores from inspection and audit results
  • Make recommendation of problem containment and/or corrective action to Production Leads and Supervisors
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze data for corrective action and process improvement
  • Containment of finished goods and/or work in-progress for defects affecting form/fit/function/appearance
  • Provide corrective and supportive feedback to Team Members regarding process and product quality
  • Issue formal Corrective Action Reports
  • Reports problems and issues to supervisor and production management
  • Any additional responsibilities or duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • 2 years related experience in manufacturing, where quality control tasks were a central part of job responsibilities.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Clear spoken and written English skills
  • Basic shop math skills: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, fraction/decimal conversion, calculate percentage
  • Basic skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Conflict management skills
  • Assertive communication skills including active listening and paraphrasing for understanding
  • Manage multiple tasks and effective prioritization skills
  • Participate or lead a problem solving team
  • Basic understanding of DMAIC process and common tools
  • Understanding of manufacturing value stream from receiving to shipping
  • Interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to influence others toward positive change
  • Initiative to start and complete tasks on time
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Physical Requirements

  • Use hands to perform power grasping
  • Reach above/below shoulder level
  • Bend & twist at the neck or waist
  • Stand/walk
  • Use hands/fingers to perform keyboarding tasks
  • Lift, carry over 50 pounds alone, up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Close vision, color perception, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
  • Overtime may be required

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

  • Regularly is exposed to excessive noise, dust, fumes, or chemicals on the shop floor
  • Occasionally works in a climate-controlled office where the sound level is quiet
  • Regularly wears personal protective equipment on the shop floor
