The Pro Fee Coding Coordinator role provides daily operational guidance to assigned coders and operational support to coding, compliance and education leadership team. In addition, they will provide pro fee coding backup for volume surges or holiday/vacation coverage and complex cases. This role is the front line in support and escalation to ensure coding and communication excellence.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates coding workflows for assigned areas, monitors appropriate charge lag reports and escalates both immediate and trending issues to Manager(s) of Professional Coding/leadership team.
- Provides development support to assigned team. Clarifies and resolves daily coding questions or concerns through research and appropriate collaboration with other key stakeholders. Identifies educational and workflow opportunities based on data and trends.
- Onboarding of new coding team members including orientation to policies, procedures and workflows and introductions to team members, providers, administrative staff, and other key stakeholders
- First line of productivity and other metric monitoring. Provide feedback and guidance to coders who are not consistently meeting standards. Ensure coders have solid understanding of targets and expectations. Escalate immediate and trending issues to Manager of Professional Coding/leadership team.
- Assist managers with employee performance assessments, employee timecards (with coordination of vacation and holiday schedules), coordination of internal and external quality audit preparation and CEU internal events.
- Assists with creation and maintenance of official documents, tracking sheets, reports, and files in our Teams "Team" or other shared repository. Ensures files are up to date, accurate, and organized. Tracks IT incident and demand tickets. Attends meetings and collaborates to ensure tickets and demands are resolved/completed timely.
- As needed, assists with coding and abstracting professional fee hospital services performed by SLPG physicians from medical records according to ICD10, CPT-4, HCPCS II and CMS guidelines. Utilizes the 3M Encoder to verify and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes and maintains the set coding accuracy rate as measured through quality reviews.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Act as a coding resource to other network departments as needed. Other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 3 hours at a time. Repetitive arm/finger use retrieving/viewing Electronic Medical Record. Extended periods of vision use for reviewing computerized patient records, abstracting of patient information, approximately 7 hours per day, 3 hours at a time.

MOST COMPLEX DUTY: Providing accurate and timely guidance to coders and support to managers. Ability to review data, identify trends, and and use critical thinking skills in resolution of day to day operational situations.
SUPERVISION (Received and/or Given): Manager, Provider Coding
COMMUNICATIONS: Communicate frequently in a tactful, respectful and diplomatic manner with internal and external customers. Both written and verbal communication skills required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
CPC or CCS-P with working knowledge of ICD10, CPT and HCPCS coding required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 1-3 years experience in pro fee coding. Must be proficient in basic navigation of the Electronic Medical Record and other basic software including Word, Excel and Teams. Previous experience as Subject Matter Expert (SME) or leadership role preferred

Day shift but may require other hours as necessary.
