Job description
Overview:
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for leading, directing, managing and coordinating activities related to the day-to-day operations. This position will drive improvement in operational efficiencies, cost control and reduction, safety, team member utilization, production, quality and operational procedures adherence. This role will be responsible for managing multiple shifts to achieve operational success through development, employee engagement and leadership mentoring.
Responsibilities:
Develops operational goals and objectives including production, inventory control, EHS, quality, team engagement, etc. and influences team to drive performance accountability
As a subject matter expert, provides oversite for operations framework including production, inventory control, EHS, quality, team engagement, etc. and influences team engagement.
Accountable for the analysis of leading and lagging indicators and expectations for operational metrics including production, inventory control, EHS, quality, team engagement, etc. and reporting out metrics and deviations from forecasted performance expectations to senior/executive leadership team
Oversees structure and charter of local committee teams (safety, quality, team engagement) in partnership with cross-functional leaders
Set standards for accurate flow down of requirements into operational processes
Cultivate a compliant culture through formal commitment to operational excellence including production, inventory control, EHS, quality, team engagement, etc.
Creates a shared vision for problem-solving and data driven solutions within the organization
Takes a proactive approach to lean implementation by driving processes that are intrinsically lean and leverages best practices across the supply chain
Identifying customer and market risks and develop plans to mitigate
Cultivate an environment of innovation and continuous improvement.
Develop operating plans and budgets
Support P&L through owning continuous improvement roadmap and cost reduction initiatives
Plan for capital expenditures and investment
Active contributor to sales and operations planning strategy
Develops teaming journey strategy and provides consistent support and commitment for evolution
Serves as site liaison and communication point person for Employee Relations concerns
Ensure a careful selection process is used to develop a diverse and flexible workforce
Drives development, evaluation and creation of effective employee guidelines, policies and procedures
Set a vision for personal development and continues learning within the org
Foster an environment of trust, open communication and feedback

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred
Four plus years of management experience in a Distribution Center environment preferred
Experience managing cost in a distribution setting
Experience in Lean manufacturing or 6-sigma preferred
CPIM certification preferred
Desired to achieve Black Belt 6-Sigma certification
Teamwork and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate with customers, team member, and senior management
A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
An ability to think strategically and plan over a 3-6 month time span
The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
Technical skills in materials and inventory management, production scheduling, and preventive maintenance
Benefits:
The annual base salary range is $100,000 - $125,000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
