Job description

Duties Prepare and maintain daily journals, radio logs and records. Maintain radio communications with mobile patrol units and posts. Patrol perimeter and interior on foot or vehicle. Perform traffic control to enforce speed limits and assist at accident scenes. Establish identity of all persons seeking access by closely reviewing credentials. Control personnel access to highly restrictive areas. Serve as a guard on rotating patrols and posts at an installation enforcing security measures to protect personnel, materials or property. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals. Must qualify and remain qualified for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP), IAW AR 190-56. Must pass initial drug test and subject to random drug testing. Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime and weekends, as required. -This position is Mission Essential. Must pass initial and semi-annual weapons qualifications. Must pass initial and annual medical examination, including emotional and mental stability. Must pass initial and annual physical agility/ability test, IAW AR 190-56. Must successfully complete security guard training. Must train and maintain current required certifications in CPR, AED and First Aid. May be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves and other protective equipment, and may be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton. Must possess a valid, state-issued motor vehicle license (loss of license may result in removal from the position). Must wear a prescribed uniform and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene. Must not have a medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments. Must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operation various electronic equipment and sensors. Must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability (duties/training required require to carry and deploy riot baton, protective shield and employ non-lethal ammunitions, if necessary) Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Must accept and understand that TERM employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes1) Operating a variety of radio transmitters or receivers; 2) Reviewing identification cards, badges, or passes to allow access to a secured area; 3) Protecting the health, safety, privacy or best interest of the public, staff or others who may be at risk; and 4) Preparing daily journals, logs or records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information This is a TERM not to exceed 13 months, may be extended up to 6 years. This position will NOT be converted permanent. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
