Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - General Cardiothoracic Surgery

Location: West Reading, PA

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is partnering with a leading medical center in West Reading, PA, to recruit a highly skilled and dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join their Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This unique surgical role involves collaborating with Cardiothoracic Surgeons and a multidisciplinary team to coordinate and deliver comprehensive patient care in a non-cardiac surgical arena.

Key Responsibilities:

Surgical First Assist: Provide skilled assistance to surgeons during a variety of cardiothoracic procedures, including pacing wire removal, chest tube removal, wound VAC changes, and wound care.

Pre- and Post-Operative Care: Perform patient consultations, direct admissions, and discharges, conduct H&Ps, and order pre- and post-operative diagnostic studies.

ICU Management: Manage the ICU during night calls, demonstrating advanced knowledge in hemodynamic management, ventilators, ventricular assist devices, and pharmacological interventions.

Floor Coverage: Provide comprehensive care to patients on the surgical floor during daytime hours.

Schedule:

Three 13-hour shifts per week:

Two days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)

One night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)

One weekend of call approximately every three weeks

Qualifications:

Education: Master's Degree (MSN or MMS) for Nurse Practitioners or equivalent for Physician Assistants.

Certification & Licensure:

Active and unrestricted RN or PA license in Pennsylvania.

National certification (AANP or ANCC for NPs, NCCPA for Clients).

Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

DEA license.

Experience: Relevant experience in cardiothoracic surgery or a related field.

Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, advanced knowledge of adult critical care, and proficiency in hemodynamic management and surgical techniques.
