Position Description:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for planning, installation, configuration, function/performance testing and maintenance of systems software and hardware and related infrastructure. This position is responsible for supporting senior Systems Administrators and Product Administrators at high level, exhibit leadership and direct stewardship for various key software functions for Capital. This person will perform duties in compliance with established security and change control policy and procedures in order to ensure optimal continuous operations to meet customer expectations. Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge of Windows platforms is required and in addition to SAP BOXI/Crystal Reporting, TIDAL Scheduling/Automation, Subversion Repository and monitoring tools such as Microsoft System Center (SCOM) is needed. The Systems Services Administrator I will be asked to work both individually and in a team environment to interface with other areas of IT to ensure cross-department solutions are implemented without issue. This person will be highly skilled in problem solving and have ability to communicate technical knowledge to different audiences in an effective manner. This resource is also expected to possess firm knowledge of and technical skillset with aspects to managing server software, configurations, alerting protocols and best practice methods to maintain optimal performance as well as document technical solutions and deployment strategies. Resource will be expected to participate in annual disaster recovery exercise as required as it's an important aspect of the role. This position will support senior peers with ownership of backup/recovery of varied key software components within the IT&D infrastructure.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides day to day support for various assigned software products, related servers and functionality including alerting protocols. Keeps up to date with internal projects involving usage of existing environment and/or the addition of new to determine level of impact. Responsible as owner for key software, functions and mentoring other Systems Administrators. Includes data backup, management and analysis of core systems.

Responsible for maintenance of existing systems software for support and customer needs in a timely manner to meet agreed upon dates. Forms direction and designs rollout for key software and virtual server maintenance. Abides by routine deployment expectations.

Responsible for installation, configuration, function/performance testing of systems software, builds relationships with vendors and exploits new functions and champions usage and migration as needed.

Provides technical leadership and trouble-shooting problems for IT&D, Business customers and PMO related implementation projects. Researches and recommends/implements solutions to prevent impacts. Accountable for department SLA compliance with key systems.

Performs thorough performance monitoring and tuning as needed for assigned systems software and supports development and testing of required alerting protocols. Conducts performance benchmarks and proactively recommends and implements solutions to avoid performance related impacts for new/upgraded software.

Attends workshops, seminars, and user group meetings, as needed, to develop and maintain a current working knowledge of assigned and related product groups. Continually renews knowledge of software releases and new functions. Communicates strongly and research/recommends changes to align our department and IT&D with future direction - compliance with architecture direction. Presents position white-paper formats to back positions.

Develops and maintains documentation on core software and server components that are primary to the System Services department. Provides cross-training to team peers on new implementations and/or changes to existing infrastructure.

Involved directly or indirectly in proof of concepts with software solutions and new server builds to assist customers and improve service delivery. Will be key representative from our department for larger impact projects.

Knowledge:

Must demonstrate technical savvy in multiple areas of department with the management of software package deployments, maintenance and functions that have high impact to our department.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms including but not limited to new builds, application deployments, maintenance and on-going triage expertise.

Comprehensive understanding of large-scale, multi-image, computer operations environment

Working knowledge of the following key software systems: IBM WebSphere Application, PowerShell scripting/scripting languages, Microsoft System Monitoring SCOM/Alerting protocols and tools, VMWare, Citrix Provisioning/App Layering, MCS, Tidal Scheduling Automation software, Informatica/PowerCenter, IBM WebSphere Translation Extension, Crystal Reporting Server, Subversion Repository

Knowledge of Facets by Cognizant (TriZetto) systems, NetworX Pricer/Workflow on Windows Server, Optum Products: Claims Edit System, EasyGrouper, WebStrat/PSI and Rate Manager, Microsoft SCOM Monitoring, PowerShell Scripting.

Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years hands-on Systems Administration experience with Windows platforms with expertise in Application & MCS Operating System layer provisioning, Tidal Scheduling Automation, Crystal Reporting Server/BOXI software.

Subject-Matter Expertise in 5 or more key software systems with the ability to provide on-call support.

Experienced in installation and support of systems software and VMware.

Education and Certifications:

Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Information Management or Computer Science

Work Environment:

Fulltime Remote Worker - Work from home in office setting in an enclosed environment

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and see. Will require the ability to work on pc majority of the time to key coding, perform programming tasks and use online collaboration meeting tools to communicate with team and participate and/or conduct IT&D project and external vendor meetings. The employee must be able to work over 40 hours per week. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds. Required to participate in on-call rotation for first level troubleshooting for multiple systems.

Other:

Must be able to respond on short notice to on-call/call-in requirements where assistance is required 24 hours per day, 7 days per week

Able to work weekends and before/ after core hours as necessary related to on-call issue triage, product deployments/upgrades/testing that is targeted to be completed during maintenance windows.

Minimal travel is required at less than 5%, have the ability to travel to attend any required in-person training sessions and/or work group meetings onsite at core business location(s). Will be required to participate in remote Disaster Recovery testing.
