The Imaging Tech Trainee is responsible for cross training into an advanced modality of Radiology under the supervision of a Registered Technologist in the specific area of practice. The Imaging Tech Trainee will be employed into an On-the-Job Training Program that is hands on and focused on building the skills and knowledge needed to successfully work in a new advanced modality.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for following the advanced modality job description the trainee applied for and currently training in
Demonstrates PCRAFT values and behaviors
Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs
Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Radiology Department as well as the proper release of information
Accountable for quality of digital images sent to PACS
Verify correct patient is selected from worklist, ensures accuracy of Medical Record information prior to being sent to PACS
Responsible for the success of the department to achieve hospital designated Press Ganey goal. Every patient should receive patient education
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate equipment and chart information. Sitting for up to 5 hours in 30-minute increments. Standing and walking for up to 3 hours in 15-minute increments. Pushing, pulling, and lifting of patients up to 600 pounds with assistance. Occasional stooping, lifting, and raising arms above shoulder level. Lifting and moving of objects up to 50 pounds. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to normal vision.
EDUCATION:
Must be a current internal employee in good standing, no corrective actions within the past six months. Must must sign up for an approved ARRT didactic training program and complete all required didactic credits and clinical logs outlined in the ARRT guidelines to be eligible to sit for boards. Upon completion of clinical hours, exam logs, and didactic credits, the employee will have one year to successfully pass their registry for the respective modality.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Registered by the ARRT in Radiography R.T. (R), Nuclear Medicine Technology R.T. (N), or Radiation Therapy. History of computer usage experience required. Current CPR certification required. Complete 16 hours of job shadowing in the modality which they will be training. Eight hours completed during dayshift and eight hours completed on the open shift in which they are applying.
