The Behavior Consultant-ABA at Laurel Life provides clinical direction for children, youth, or young adults by developing and monitoring Individualized Treatment Plans (ITP) using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The primary responsibilities include assessing behaviors, designing behavioral intervention programs, and using non-aversive methods to promote positive behavioral changes. The consultant collects, analyzes, and interprets data from treatment team members to adjust goals and lead the team, fostering collaboration to support individual and family autonomy.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide ABA services in home, school, and community settings.
Develop and supervise individualized behavior modification treatment plans.
Maintain progress notes and prepare professional summaries of client behavior and progress.
Design and direct behavioral intervention plans.
Conduct regular data reviews and participate in interagency treatment plan meetings.
Oversee Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT-ABA), ensuring accurate implementation of treatment goals.
Develop cooperative relationships with community agencies to facilitate treatment services.
Work as a positive team member, supporting the team's mission and goals.
Accept professional responsibility and model positive, pro-social behavior.
Attend required meetings, trainings, and organizational trainings for professional growth.
Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), analyze data, and fine-tune treatment prescriptions.
Administer skills assessments and use various ABA teaching/skill-building curriculums (e.g., PEAK, VB-MAPP, Denver Model).
Complete at least 16 hours of annual training approved by the PA Department of Human Services.
Successfully complete and maintain ESPI training, adhering to policy guidelines.
Maintain a valid driver's license and notify supervisors of any changes in license status.
Perform additional special projects or duties as requested.
Skills Required:
Expertise in Autism and ABA, with the ability to implement individualized behavior programs using models such as PEAK, Verbal Behavior, Competent Learner Model, Lovaas Model, and Denver Model.
Training and experience in conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA).
Strong interpersonal skills for developing effective relationships with clients.
Ability to identify underlying causes of problem situations and recommend non-aversive behavioral change methods.
Team player with good collaboration skills.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
Licensed in Pennsylvania as a psychologist, professional counselor (LPC), marriage and family therapist (LMFT), clinical social worker (LCSW), social worker (LSW), behavior specialist (LBS), certified registered nurse practitioner, or a professional qualified to oversee ABA services.
Certification as BCaBA or other accredited undergraduate-level certification in behavior analysis, OR
One year of full-time experience providing ABA services with relevant academic credits or supervised experience, OR
Licensed psychologist with one year of full-time ABA experience and 40 hours of relevant training.
Working Conditions:
Work in various settings, including school buildings, homes, community centers, churches, and activity centers.
Summer and recreational programs may involve physical activities.
Clients may sometimes be verbally or physically abusive.
